摘要： A conveyor system and method for steering and shifting an associated strip component to a desired transverse position includes a sensor for sensing the transverse position of the associated strip component, a shaft rotatable about an axis generally perpendicular to the direction of motion of the strip component, and a plurality of guide disks rotatably mounted on side by side sleeve bearings which are keyed to the shaft. Each of the guide disks has an inner circumferential bearing surface and an outer circumferential surface for engagement with the bottom surface of the associated strip component. Each of the guide disks is canted at a fixed angle with respect to the shaft axis. Additionally the shaft is axially movable. The conveyor system includes an apparatus for simultaneously moving the shaft axially and rotating the shaft about the shaft axis to change the angle at which the guide disks engage the strip material and shift the strip material in response to signals from the sensor as to the location of the strip component.

摘要： An extruder for extruding an associated material includes an extruder housing that has a feed section, a center section that includes a throttle section, and an outlet section with an extruder screw disposed in the extruder housing. The extruder also includes a throttle at the throttle section. The throttle has a plurality of pins that extend radially into the housing. The pins are adjusted by a cam extending around the extruder housing. The cam has an inner wall that has a plurality of cam surfaces engageable by pins. The radius of each of the cam surfaces gradually decreases from a maximum radius to a minimum radius distance. The pins have springs that urge the pins radially outward to contact the inner wall of the cam. The cam is rotated by a piston and cylinder assembly. The extruder further includes sensors for temperature, gauge, weight, and other properties of the material. The extruder also has a control apparatus for controlling the speed of the extruder and the throttle based upon any combination of temperature, gauge, weight, and production requirements while the extruder is in operation.

摘要： The disclosed roller switch has a roller, a flag arm, and a photoelectric detector. The roller is connected to the flag arm and vertical movement of the roller causes the flag arm to move. The movement of the flag arm causes the photoelectric detector to send a signal. The signal may be used to measure the length of a material passing under the roller. The inventive roller switch has a pair of flag arms, and the roller is mounted on a shaft extending between the pair of flag arms. By providing a pair of flag arms connected by the roller, the roller switch is more robust and durable. The roller switch is also capable of pivoting across a conveyor belt.

摘要： A conveyor assembly and method for conveying and storing a strip material in a conveyor system that is subject to changes in length of the strip material due to intermittent operation includes an upper conveyor (16), an adjustable substantially horizontal center conveyor (22) for receiving the strip material (34) from the upper conveyor, and a lower conveyor (28) for receiving the associated strip material from the center conveyor. A computer (94) controls the movement and rotation of the center conveyor, and loop detecting apparatus on the center conveyor may also detect a loop (90) in the strip material carried by the center conveyor and thereby detecting changes in length of the strip material not predetermined by the computer. A servomechanism (100) activated by signals from the computer or the loop detecting apparatus moves the center conveyor in a substantially horizontal direction.
