    • A converter controls a system voltage, which is a DC link voltage of an inverter, in accordance with a voltage command value. The inverter outputs a rectangular wave voltage having the system voltage as amplitude to an AC motor during application of rectangular wave voltage control. During application of rectangular wave voltage control, a voltage command value for the system voltage is modified such that a current phase on a d-q plane of the AC motor is brought closer to a target current phase line. The target current phase line is set on an advance side relative to an optimal current phase line which is a set of current phases at which output torque is maximized for the same amplitude of a motor current in the AC motor.

    • A windshield wiper control apparatus compensates for small-diameter raindrops such as a drizzle and raindrops splashed over by a preceding vehicle which may worsen the visibility of a driver even though the level of precipitation is not much and accumulatively calculates the amount of raindrops just after the wiping action of a wiper blade, thereby causing an optimized automatic wiping action to be realized. In addition, a windshield wiper control apparatus effects an automatic wiper operation without modifications and additional use of new operating switches by only adding a new control device between the conventional windshield apparatus not having any automatic wiper operation and the wiper blade driver.

    • A circuit for detection of an HDMI source device to an HDMI sink device through an HDMI sink connector without regard for the activity state of the HDMI source device has a pull-up resistor having first and second terminals with the first terminal coupled to a DC power source. A switching device is coupled between the pull-up resistor's second terminal and ground at a circuit node. The switching device is switched on to couple the circuit node to ground when power is applied to a control terminal thereof from the HDMI sink connector power pin, and being switched off otherwise. The circuit node is coupled to a DDC/CEC GROUND pin of the HDMI sink connector. The circuit node is readable as a binary signal to indicate the presence of a source device to the HDMI sink connector, wherein the node exhibits a logic low signal when either the node is grounded by the DDC/CEC GROUND pin connection to a source device or when the switching device is switched on.
