摘要： A plastic aerosol container includes a main body portion and a base portion, both of which are fabricated from a plastic material such as polyethylene terephthalate. The main body portion has a longitudinal axis and a maximum transverse diameter. The base portion is unitary with the main body portion and has a plurality of feet that are adapted to support the container on a horizontal surface. A first rib that is positioned between adjacent feet preferably has a substantially constant radius of curvature that has a ratio with respect to the maximum transverse diameter that is substantially within a range of about 0.20 to about 1.0. The main body portion and the base portion define an interior space that is pressurized with an aerosol mixture at a pressure that is substantially within a range of about 50 psi to about 300 psi.

Reinforcement structure is positioned beneath the support ledge for reinforcing the finish portion against deformation due to the pressurization. A method of stabilizing a plastic aerosol container is also disclosed.

摘要： An aerosol container includes a main body portion that is constructed and arranged to withstand aerosol pressurization within a range that is about 90-180 psig and a threaded finish portion that is unitary with the main body portion. The threaded finish portion has at least one helical thread, a support ledge beneath the helical thread and a secondary flange that is positioned beneath the support ledge. The secondary flange has an outer circumference that is noncircular in at least one location, whereby it may be engaged during a capping operation to prevent rotation of the container during capping. A method of making an aerosol container in which a preform is capped before the blow molding process is also disclosed.

The base portion and the main body portion together define an internal space within the container that is pressurized with an aerosol mixture at a pressure that is substantially within a range of about 50 psi to about 300 psi at room temperature. The main body portion has an upper portion that has a first maximum transverse diameter, a lower portion that has a second maximum transverse diameter and an intermediate portion that has a third maximum transverse diameter. The third minimum transverse diameter is less than both the first and second maximum transverse diameters, whereby the main body portion has a narrowed waist portion that provides reinforcement against deformation as a result of pressurization within the internal space of the container. The narrowed waist portion preferably has a substantially constant radius of curvature.

The preform base forming region has an end cap portion with a non-spherical inner wall, including a flattened central section joined by arcuate corner sections to a generally cylindrical outer section. The inner wall sections provide a varying end cap thickness profile which enhances orientation in select portions of the footed container base for improved performance and/or lightweighting of the container base.
