    • A gas bag for a side impact protection device includes at least two inflatable chambers (28, 30) separated from each other in a gas-tight manner. The gas bag (10) is formed from two covering layers (12, 14) lying one over the other, which define an inflatable region and an inflation opening (16) of the gas bag (10), and from a fabric layer (18) arranged between the two covering layers (12, 14). The fabric layer (18) has an outer edge which in the inflatable region of the gas bag (10) is connected only with one of the two covering layers (12, 14) to divide the gas bag (10) into the two chambers (28, 30).

    • A gas bag module (10) for a safety arrangement in vehicles comprises a gas bag (12) which has at least two chambers (16, 18) separated from each other by a separating seam (20) and has a mounting opening (22) formed in one of the chambers (18), and a gas generator (14) held at least partially in the mounting opening (22). The gas generator comprises a housing (24) which has a diffusor section (26) associated with the chambers (16, 18) and has a fastening section (30, 32) for mounting the gas generator (14) securely with the vehicle. The fastening section (28) of the gas generator housing held in the mounting opening (22) adjoins a wall section (42) of the mounting opening (22) on the inside thereof. Further, a fastening means (44) is provided, which fixes the wall section (42) to the fastening section (30, 32) from the exterior and also acts upon the separating seam (20) with tension and secures it to the diffusor section (26).

    • An airbag (10) for a vehicle occupant restraint system includes an airbag wall (14) having a gas outlet opening (26), and a control strap (16) extending through an interior of the airbag along an airbag depth (y) that is defined by a distance between two airbag wall areas (27, 28), the airbag wall areas (27, 28) being situated opposite to each other and the airbag wall areas (27, 28) being joined to one another by the control strap (16). A wall section (20) is turned one of inside and outside relative to the inflated airbag (10), depending on the airbag depth (y), such that, in response to a displacement of the control strap (16), the airbag (10) can be moved from a first outer contour, in which the airbag depth (y) is large and the wall section (20) is turned into the interior of the airbag, to a second outer contour, in which the airbag depth (y) is smaller and the wall section (20) is turned outside. The airbag (10) has a closure (18) for the gas outlet opening (26) that is joined, on the one hand, to the control strap (16) and, on the other hand, to the wall section (20). The closure (18) can be actively moved in opposite directions respectively by the control strap (16) and the wall section (20), in order to open and close the gas outlet opening (26) to one of a greater and lesser extent.
