One of the valve seat and the valve element includes a main portion and a seal portion that is less tacky than the main portion and is engaged by the other of the valve seat and the valve element when the valve element is in the closed position.

摘要： A system for delivery of therapeutic and/or diagnostic agents into a living body includes a port assembly having a cannula extending from the mounting side, a port opening away from the mounting side and a resilient barrier between the port and the cannula. An access hub includes a connector positionable at the port for opening the resilient barrier. The access hub is movable in the port assembly, is engaged therewith through a resilient ring coupling and forms a seal with the resilient barrier, reducing the amount of volume to be primed. Inserters, both disposable and reusable, include the cannula insertion member as part of the assembly. A spring loaded port driver is operatively mounted within the housing with movement controlled by a latch. The driver includes a seat for receipt of a port assembly. The cannula insertion member is nonremovably fixed in a socket in the port driver in the disposable assembly. In the reusable inserter, the cannula insertion member is slidably mounted within a socket associated with the latch. Slidable movement is limited by locking shoulders. The socket is split and may be splayed to release the cannula insertion member following use.

摘要： Apparatuses and methods for a connection interface between a reservoir or syringe, infusion set tubing, and an infusion pump are provided. A base is provided which is adapted to receive a reservoir and engage a cap. A piercing member, such as a needle, is disposed in the interior of the cap in such a manner that the needle is separated from the reservoir septum when the base is in a first detent position, and the needle pierces a reservoir septum when the base is in a second detent position. When the reservoir, the base and the cap are connected to form an integrated unit, this unit is then capable of being inserted and secured in the infusion pump housing. In some embodiments, an integral connector couples directly to the reservoir.

摘要： A hypodermic syringe employing a plunger slidably disposed within a barrel. The plunger has a mounting hole extending through the seal end thereof to receive a mandrel. The mandrel has a flexible flange to be releasably engaged with the plunger. A spring element withdraws the mandrel into a cavity within the plunger upon full extension of the plunger within the barrel. The barrel includes a hub retainer at the forward end thereof and a needle hub retained therein the mandrel includes barbed tines with surfaces having axes of the conical surfaces that are displaced from one another such that movement of the tines toward one another also brings the axes closer. A catch associated with the back end of the spring element coupled with the mandrel at the other end cooperates with shoulders on smooth surfaces within the cavities to retain tension within the bungee. The hub retainer and the needle hub cooperate to insure that the needle hub is constrained to limited motion such that the mandrel will fully engage the needle hub.

摘要： A reservoir, made from a cyclic olefin copolymer (COC), for containing a fluid for infusion into a body of a patient includes a proximal end adapted to connect to an infusion set, a distal end, a cylindrical wall longitudinally extending from the proximal end to the distal end, and a piston adapted to be slidably mounted within the reservoir at the distal end. The COC may be Topas® and the reservoir may be used to contain insulin. The piston forms a fluid tight seal and may be connected to a linear actuation member. Additionally, the piston may be formed from an elastomeric material including rubber, silicone, bromobutyl, natural synthetic isoprene, nitrile, and/or ethylene propylene diene monomers. The piston may also be made from a COC such as Topas®.

摘要： An insertion device and insertion set. The insertion device for inserting at least a portion of at least one piercing member of an insertion set through the skin of a patient includes a device housing, a carrier body and a driver. The carrier body is slidably received within the device housing for movement between an advanced position and a retracted position. The carrier body also includes a receiving structure to support the insertion set in a position with the at least one piercing member oriented for insertion through the skin of the patient at a predetermined angle relative to the skin of the patient upon movement of the carrier body from the retracted position to the advanced position. The driver is operatively coupled between the device housing and the carrier body to urge the carrier body with a controlled force and speed from the retracted position toward the advanced position to place at least a portion of the at least one piercing member of the insertion set thorough the skin of the patient to install the insertion set to the patient. The receiving structure of the carrier body is removable from the insertion set while maintaining the installation of the insertion set to the patient.
