    • An electrical connector filter or transient suppression component structure includes a component body, a first lead adapted to electrically contact a feedthrough contact pin in an electrical connector and a second lead adapted to engage a ground plate. The first lead may be cylindrical to extend all the way around the contact pin, the second lead including a cylindrical termination section which electrically connects the component to the ground plate by engaging an aperture provided in the ground plate. The components are housed in a dielectric insert assembly which, in one embodiment includes pairs of circular openings at one end and rectangular/circular opening pairs at the other end, the component body being inserted into a rectangular opening and the contacts and termination section extending through the circular openings. The second end of the insert may include projections surrounding one circular opening in each of the pairs of circular openings to insulate the contacts from the ground plate, the projections extending through circular openings in the ground plate and the cylindrical termination sections of the ground lead extending through and engaging additional circular openings in the ground plate.

    • An anti-decoupling mechanism for preventing unwanted decoupling of an electrical connector as a result of vibration. The decoupling mechanism includes a one-piece gull-shaped spring (400) mounted to a connector coupling ring (300). The spring (400) includes a central portion (410) having an arcuate groove (411) formed thereon and a pair of wing members (420, 430) extending outwardly therefrom, the arcuate portion being secured in place by a pin (600) interference fit through a hole (331) disposed in the coupling ring. Each wing member includes first and second strips in superposed relation and a medial enlargement or tooth member (440) projecting radially inward from a forward surface of one of the strips and adapted to engage ratchet teeth (141) disposed on one of the connectors, the wings biasing the tooth against the ratchet teeth to increase anti-decoupling torque.

    • A socket contact (50) for electrical connectors and method of manufacture is disclosed comprised of a separate solid socket body (10) formed with a terminal portion (14), and a projection (16) receiving a tubular spring member (28). The projection (16) has a forward larger diameter section (20) with an intermediate groove (22), and a reduced diameter section (26). The spring member (28) has a circumferential crimp (38) seated in the intermediate groove (22) at assembly. Both the spring member (28) and an outer guide sleeve (40) have their rear ends (30, 46) crimped into the reduced diameter section (26) to establish a mechanical assembly thereto. The circumferential crimp (38) seated in the groove (22) enhances the electrical connection between the spring member (28) in the socket body (10) as well as aiding in assembly.
