    • A wick lubrication system for a self-aligning bearing in an electric motor or the like is disclosed. Typically, the motor includes a rotor shaft, a bearing support and a self-aligning bearing supported thereby journalling the rotor shaft of the motor. Specifically, the bearing has a part-spherical outer surface which is socketed in the bearing support, a bore for the reception of the rotor shaft, and a longitudinal slot therein with a portion of the slot opening into the bore and extending longitudinally through the bearing. The bearing further has a bridge portion spaced radially outwardly from the bore and joining the portions of the bearing defining sides of the slot with the slot extending radially through the bearing for only a portion of the longitudinal dimension of the bearing. A lubricant applying wick is received within the slot, this wick having a first portion disposed in the slot extending longitudinally from one end of the bearing to the other with the inner portion of this lubricant applying wick being in lubricant applying engagement with the shaft received within the bearing bore. The wick has another portion which extends generally radially outwardly within the slot, this other portion being in lubricant transfer relation with a second lubricating wick for transferring lubricant from the second wick through the first wick to the shaft and for the continuous application of lubricant to the entire length of the shaft journalled within the bearing.

    • An electric motor comprises a stator, a rotor, and an interface plate. The interface plate is fixed to the stator and is configured to couple the electric motor to a pump. The interface plate comprises a shaft opening, a cavity, a ventilation passageway, a fluid discharge portion, a drainage passageway, and an upwardly extending surface. The rotor shaft extends horizontally through the shaft opening. The cavity is in communication with the shaft opening. The ventilation passageway extends upward from the cavity and is in communication with the cavity and with the ambient air. The drainage passageway is in communication with and extends downward from the cavity. The drainage passageway is configured to channel liquid downward from the cavity and to the fluid discharge portion. The upwardly extending surface is positioned where the upwardly extending surface will inhibit liquid from migrating from the fluid discharge portion to the stator.

    • A rotor assembly is comprised of a rotor core and at least one magnet. The rotor core has a support protrusion projecting radially outwardly from the core exterior surface. The at least one magnet is positioned on the support protrusion and is supported in a radially outward spaced relation from the core exterior surface. The radially outward spacing defines a radial spacing between the core exterior surface and the at least one magnet. A connection is located in the radial spacing and holds the at least one magnet to the core exterior surface. A method of assembling the rotor core assembly comprises the steps of providing the rotor core with a support protrusion projecting radially outwardly from the core exterior surface. Providing at least one magnet. Positioning the at least one magnet on the support protrusion so that the at least one magnet is supported in a radially outward spaced relation from the core exterior surface and defines a radial spacing between the at least one magnet and the core exterior surface, and providing a connection in the radial spacing that holds the at least one magnet to the core exterior surface.
