摘要： A multichannel scanning apparatus and method for a DMB-enabled mobile phone that are capable of simultaneously displaying multiple images received through different service channels of satellite and terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting systems is provided. A multichannel scanning method of the present invention includes determining functionalities of first and second broadcast systems; setting multi picture presentation function for displaying at least two broadcast channels of the first and second broadcast systems on a screen; and simultaneously displaying one of the broadcast channel as a main channel picture and at least one of the broadcast channels excluding the main channel as a sub channel picture.

An E-mail server receives the E-mail from the multimedia server and notifies the receiving portable terminal of the arrival of the E-mail. The apparatus and method comprise photographing the user's palm when the mobile terminal is in a palm photograph mode and converting the photographed palm image to a grayscale image. The apparatus and method further comprise detecting edges in the palm image, extracting a value of each line of the palm, obtaining a length and a slope of each line of the palm based on the extracted value, and outputting results of the palm reading based on the length and slope of each line of the palm.
