The vehicle comprises a first hydraulic pump, a first hydraulic motor, a first axle shaft, a second hydraulic pump, a second hydraulic motor, a second axle shaft, a first bypass, a first linkage, a second bypass and a second linkage. The first hydraulic motor is connected to the first hydraulic pump by a first hydraulic porting. The first axle shaft is driven by the first hydraulic motor. The second hydraulic motor is connected to the second hydraulic pump by a second hydraulic porting. The second axle shaft is driven by the second hydraulic motor. The first bypass is associated with the first hydraulic porting. The first linkage is connected to the first bypass. The second bypass is associated with the second hydraulic porting. The second linkage is connected to the second bypass. The first bypass and the second bypass are actuated substantially simultaneously by a single actuating mechanism.

    • A control system for use in a vehicle having left and right clutch assemblies, each clutch assembly including a brake mechanism and a drive mechanism. The control system includes a steering switch having a left steering position to actuate the left brake mechanism and the right drive mechanism, a neutral steering position to actuate the left and right drive mechanisms, and a right steering position to actuate the left drive mechanism and the right brake mechanism. The system may also include an operator switch having a first position to actuate brake mechanisms and disable the steering switch, and a second position that passes control of both brake clutch assemblies to the steering switch. The system may further include a brake switch having a brake position that actuates both brake mechanisms and disables the operator switch and the steering switch, and a drive position that passes control of both clutch assemblies to the operator switch.

The drive apparatus comprises an input, a variable drive system, a control device, and an actuator assembly. The drive apparatus is mounted on a vehicle that comprises an operating system. A prime mover drives the input, which subsequently drives one or more axle shafts. The variable drive system is capable of operation in forward and reverse directions. The control device determines the direction of operation and speed of the variable drive system. The actuator assembly is mounted to a component of the control device. The actuator assembly determines the state of operation of the output device with respect to the forward or reverse operation of the variable drive system.

    • An embodiment of the present invention involves a drive apparatus with a housing, a first and second axle mounted in the housing and a ring gear located within the housing. A brake clutch mechanism is located on each axle with a drive clutch assembly for selectively coupling the each axle with the ring gear, a brake assembly for selectively coupling each axle with the housing and a cam block located between the drive clutch assemblies and the brake assemblies to selectively engage each drive assembly or brake assembly. A cam shaft is also rotatably mounted in each cam block and rotatably affixed to the housing.
