摘要： The invention relates to a device which is used as a force-transmitting device (38′) for a pressure sensor (14) associated with a glow plug in an internal combustion engine and is embodied in the form of a tubular piece whose cross-section is substantially annular. The inventive device comprises an area (40) on which the external diameter thereof increases towards one end thereof. The front surface of the device corresponding to said flared end is embodied in the form of a bearing face receiving the piezo-electric pressure sensor. A glow plug integrating said force-transmitting device is also disclosed.

摘要： A glow plug (10) that includes a metal tubular body (12), a metal sheath (24) carried by the tubular body, a heating resistor (33) located inside the sheath, first and second electrical terminals (30,32), and a layer (36) of insulating material applied on a portion of the outer surface of the sheath. The first terminal (30) is electrically connected to the heating resistor (33) and the second terminal (32) is electrically connected to the sheath (24). The layer (36) of insulating material is located on the sheath (24) between the sheath and tubular body (12) to thereby electrically insulate the metal sheath from the metal tubular body. The layer (36) of insulating material can be applied by plasma deposition which enables the sheath (24) to be attached to the tubular body (12) by an interference fit of the sheath within a cavity (16) in the tubular portion. Also disclosed is a method of fabricating the glow plug (10).

摘要： A glow plug has a heater probe that can be axially misaligned relative to a central axis of an outer metal shell and of a center electrode and thereafter return automatically to its axially aligned configuration with the central axis. The outer shell has a through bore extending along the central axis. The center electrode is received in the though bore and extends along the central axis. The heater probe is attached in electrical communication with the center electrode in the through bore and extends along the central axis axially outwardly from a distal end of the shell. An annular flex joint provides the sole source of attachment of the outer shell to the heater probe via one end of the flex joint being attached to the outer shell adjacent the distal end and another end of the flex joint being attached to the heater probe.
