    • Quartz-crystal vibrating devices are disclosed, including vibrating and frame portions separated by a through-slot. An edge surface of the slot has a protrusion preventing unwanted formation of artifact “electrodes.” The vibrating portion and frame are made of AT-cut quartz as a unit. A joining portion couples the frame and vibrating portion together across the through-slot. A package base has two external electrodes. A third frame region has first and second plane surfaces. The protrusion projects toward the vibrating portion and has first and/or second sloped surfaces. First and second extraction electrodes extend from respective excitation electrodes via respective joining portions to respective external electrodes. The extraction electrodes pass across the first plane surface and first sloped surface or across the second plane surface and second slanted surface.

    • Piezoelectric vibrating devices have piezoelectric vibrating pieces of which the vibration frequency is measurable individually on a wafer scale, without being affected by adjacent piezoelectric devices on the wafer. Also on the outer surface of the package base are two pairs of opposing castellations that are recessed toward the center of the package base. Edge-surface electrodes connect the first and second main surfaces of the base; one pair is connected to the connecting electrodes and the other pair is connected to respective mounting terminals.

    • The present disclosure provides a manufacturing method of a quartz-crystal device, in which its lid and base is manufactured with smaller thermal expansion coefficient between AT-cut quartz-crystal wafer. The method for manufacturing a quartz-crystal device comprises the steps of: preparing an AT-cut quartz-crystal wafer (70) having a plurality of frames, the frame includes an AT-cut vibrating piece having a first principal surface and an second principal surface, and an outer frame which surrounds the AT-cut vibrating piece for supporting the AT-cut frame; preparing a lid wafer (60) having a plurality of a lids; preparing a quartz-crystal base wafer (80) including a plurality of a base; and bonding the AT-cut quartz-crystal wafer, the quartz-crystal base wafer and the quartz-crystal lid wafer; wherein size of the AT-cut quartz-crystal wafer, the quartz-crystal base wafer and the quartz-crystal lid wafer are between three to four inches; and the quartz-crystal base wafer and the quartz-crystal lid wafer are cut at an angle between 24°00′ or more and 32°28′ or less from crystallographic Z-axis.

    • An object of the invention is to provide a surface mount oscillator that can suppress a change with the lapse of time in frequency characteristics. A surface mount type crystal unit 1 includes: a framed crystal plate 2 in which an oscillating part 6 having a first excitation electrode 5a and a second excitation electrode 5b on opposite principal surfaces thereof is surrounded by a frame 7, and the oscillating part 6 and the frame 7 are connected by connecting parts 8a and 8b; a base 3; and a cover 4. The surface mount type crystal unit 1 has such a configuration that a first metal film 17 is formed in one area of two areas formed by dividing the principal surface of the frame 7 facing the base 3 at two positions around a circumferential direction of the frame 7, and a second metal film 18 is formed in the other area. The first metal film 17 is electrically connected to the first excitation electrode 5a, and the second metal film 18 is electrically connected to the second excitation electrode 5b. The frame 7 and the base 3 are bonded to each other by a sealing material 20 formed on surfaces of the first metal film and the second metal film, and a gap area 19 between the first metal film 17 and the second metal film 18 is filled with glass 21, thereby hermetically sealing the oscillating part 6.

A crystal plate end surface electrode, which is electrically connected to the first metallic film, is electrically connected to a crystal plate auxiliary electrode; the crystal plate auxiliary electrode is electrically connected by a eutectic alloy while facing a base auxiliary electrode; the width of the frame section of one side on one end side of the framed crystal plate where the crystal plate auxiliary electrode is formed, differs from the width of the frame section of at least one other side; and a blocking film which blocks flow of the eutectic alloy to exciting electrodes, is provided on the conducting paths.
