    • A rotor for an electric rotating machine includes a hollow cylindrical rotor core, a plurality of permanent magnets, at least one annular plate and a plurality of heat conductors. The rotor core has a pair of axial end faces that are opposite to each other in the axial direction of the rotor core. The permanent magnets are embedded in the rotor core so as to be spaced from one another in the circumferential direction of the rotor core. The at least one annular plate is disposed in abutment with a corresponding one of the axial end faces of the rotor core. The heat conductors are embedded in the rotor core. Each of the heat conductors extends so as to have an end thereof abutting the at least one annular plate.

    • A method of welding a plurality of conductors to form a winding extending through an annular stator core. The conductors are inserted into slots formed in the stator core to have coil ends extending outside an end surface of the stator core. A plurality of pairs of the coil ends are arranged in diagonal arrays extending diagonally with respect to a radial direction of the stator core. The method inserts a first electrode into a gap between adjacent two of the diagonal arrays and then brings a second electrode close to one of the adjacent two of the diagonal arrays to arc-weld, the pairs of the coil ends. This welding method enables the welding of the coil ends arrayed in the above layout efficiently while keeping the electrical insulation between the pairs of the coil ends.

    • A stator includes an annular stator core and a stator coil. In each of slots of the stator core, there are received a predetermined number of in-slot portions of the stator coil in alignment with each other in a radial direction of the stator core. Each of side surfaces of tooth portions of the stator core includes, at its radially inner end, an oblique surface that extends obliquely with respect to the radial direction. The oblique surfaces are shaped so that for each of the slots, the circumferential width of the slot is decreased in the radially inward direction in that part of the slot which is located between a corresponding pair of the oblique surfaces. For each of the slots, the in-slot portion which is located radially innermost in the slot is held at a predetermined radial position by the corresponding pair of the oblique surfaces.

    • A rotor for an electric rotating machine includes a rotor core and a plurality of magnetic poles. The rotor core is formed of a plurality of magnetic steel sheets laminated in the axial direction of the rotor core. The magnetic poles are formed on a radially outer periphery of the rotor core. The magnetic poles are arranged at predetermined intervals in the circumferential direction of the rotor core so that the polarities of the magnetic poles alternate between north and south in the circumferential direction. Furthermore, the magnetic steel sheets forming the rotor core are welded so that a plurality of welds are formed on one of radially outer and inner surfaces of the rotor core. Each of the welds has a pair of axial end portions that are offset from each other in the circumferential direction of the rotor core and electrically connected to each other.

    • A stator for an electric rotating machine includes a hollow cylindrical stator core having a plurality of slots and a stator coil formed by joining a plurality of electric wires mounted on the stator core. For each joined pair of the electric wires, one of the electric wires has an end portion led out from the radially inner periphery of one of the slots of the stator core while the other electric wire has an end portion led out from the radially outer periphery of another one of the slots of the stator core; the end portions are welded together to form a weld therebetween. Part of the welds formed between the end portions of the joined pairs of the electric wires are located on the radially inner periphery of the stator coil while the remaining welds are located on the radially outer periphery of the stator coil.
