    • An apparatus, system, and method for presenting images in a multiple display environment. The present invention includes a computer-readable medium with instructions for receiving from a primary user a selected portion from a primary screen, where the selected portion is one of an image and a portion of a program. The selected portion is then displayed on one or more secondary screens. The primary user is presented with a tool to compose the secondary screen, and can also see the secondary user's input to the system. The invention also includes dynamically updating the secondary screen in response to changes in the program that result in a change in the display on the primary screen. Also disclosed is a multi-screen laptop computer ideally suited for multi-screen presentations, and a dual-monitor display device which can be easily connected to a computer to facilitate multi-screen presentations.

    • The disclosure relates to a trusted interface unit and a method of making and using the same. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a method of transmitting data on a network may include receiving data from a partition within a node on the network. This node may be configured to transmit data associated with a number of sensitivity levels. According to one embodiment of the invention, these sensitivity levels may be classification levels. One method of transmission of data may include determining the identity of the partition that originated the data within the node. Furthermore, a label may be added to the data received from within the node and the data may be encrypted with a key that may be uniquely associated with the label on the data. After encryption, the data may be transmitted on the network. Additional methods including the reception of data are disclosed. Various node and network architectures are disclosed implementing the methods and apparatus of the present invention.

    • A trans-atrial septal catheter system for delivery of a steerable sheath into the left atrium contains three components. The first component is a three-segmented needle-guide wire composed of a distal needle designed to flex sharply in relation to the conjoined looped guide wire segment after fossa ovalis puncture and needle advancement. The distal guide wire loops are advanced into the left atrium maintaining the angled needle in a central location relevant to the loops for preserving an atraumatic position while stabilizing the loops in the left atrium. The elongated proximal extra stiff guide wire segment is conjoined to the looped segment which crosses the fossa ovalis and extends proximally to become externalized to the femoral vein. This segment is extra stiff and significantly elongated to permit catheter and device exchanges. The guide wire serves as a support rail over which the dilator and sheath can be advanced into the left atrium. This transseptal system is uniquely forward looking and permits cautious and iterative delivery of the dilator into the fossa ovalis for “tenting” by way of a proximal sheath activator that interacts with the dilator. The proximal externalized GW is then advanced to permit puncture of the fossa ovalis. After puncturing a precise location of the fossa ovalis, the needle and coiled guide wire loops are further advanced into the left atrium. With the proximal activator, the dilator is advanced across the fossa ovalis into the left atrium using single-handed maneuvering for separate dilator advancement and steering of the sheath by way of turning or actuating the sheath handle.

    • A system and method assist the driver of a motor vehicle in preventing accidents or minimizing the effects of same. In one form, a television camera is mounted on a vehicle and scans the roadway ahead of the vehicle as the vehicle travels. Continuously generated video picture signals output by the camera are electronically processed and analyzed by an image analyzing computer, which generates codes, that serve to identify obstacles. A decision computer mounted in the controlled vehicle receives such code signals along with code signals generated by the speedometer or one or more sensors sensing steering mechanism operation and generates control signals. Such code signals maybe displayed, and as synthetic speech or special sound generating and warning means used to warn the driver of the vehicle of approaching and existing hazards. The system may also use the control signals, particularly through application of fuzzy logic, to control the operation of the brakes and steering mechanism of the vehicle to avoid or lessen the effects of a collision. In a particular form, the decision computer may select the evasive action taken from a number of choices, depending on whether and where the detection device senses other vehicles or obstacles.

    • A system and method are provided for communicating between a person, object, and/or vehicle carried transceiver and a monitor station to locate and track the movement of the same for security or anti-crime purposes. A portable computing and communication device carried by a person or located (hidden) in an object generates and transmits via radio signals a plurality of codes when remotely activated. One (or more) code(s), identifying or descriptive of the person, object or vehicle to be tracked, is (are) generated and transmitted to a monitor station to display character and/or video picture information describing and/or physically displaying a picture of a select person and/or vehicle and license plate information to permit police or security personnel to recognize the same. Such coded information may be immediately transmitted or retransmitted from the monitor station to a radio receiver carried by a policeman or in one or more police vehicles. The portable device is equipped with location sensing capability, such as receiving signals from satellites such as from the GPS constellation, and a computer for calculating its position using triangulation methods. Transmission of the position signals from the portable device is inhibited for a time by entering thereat an inhibit personal identification number (PIN). Further, PINs are used by the monitoring station to activate and/or override the inhibiting feature.
