摘要： According to the present invention, phenols may be detected using an electrochemical sensor comprising a final compound, a working electrode and an electrolyte in contact with the working electrode, wherein the first compound operatively undergoes a redox reaction at the working electrodes to form a second compound which operatively reacts in situ with the phenol, wherein said redox reaction has a detectable redox couple and wherein the sensor is adapted to determine the electrochemical response of the working electrode to the consumption of said second compound on reaction with the phenol. The phenol may be, for example, cannabinoid or a catechin compound.

摘要： A drive circuit of a display device comprising a capacitive display (H1) and a further display H2. The drive circuit is arranged to provide to the capacitive display, such as an electroluminescent display, an AC drive signal at a first, high voltage from a low voltage power source such that, in use, the drive circuit is repeatedly charged and discharged. The drive circuit is further arranged such that, when the capacitive display discharges, a discharge current from the display is supplied at a second, lower voltage to the further display. In the way energy from the capacitive display is used to drive a further display rather than being discarded.

摘要： A device and assembly for administering antimicrobial for killing resident microorganisms on human skin and thereby effectively preventing infections caused by the microorganisms, are provided. The device for administering antimicrobial of the invention uses iontophoresis, and it comprises: a donor electrode (100) containing an antimicrobial; a reference electrode (110) provided as a counter electrode of the donor electrode; and a power unit (120) for applying current between the donor electrode and the reference electrode in such a manner as to allow the total amount of current applied to be 1 to 30 mA·min/cm2. The area on the skin to which the donor electrode (100) is applied is suitably 1 to 100 cm2. Thus, the catheter or injection needle insertion site on human skin is disinfected.

摘要： A method of modifying epidermis for transport of a material by electroporation includes applying to epidermis an agent that, upon entry into the epidermis, will modify the epidermis to thereby cause and altered rate of transport of a material across the epidermis. Typically, the altered rate will be an increased rate of transport. The epidermis is electroporated, whereby at least a portion of the modifying agent enters the electroporated epidermis, thereby modifying the epidermis to cause an altered rate of transport of a material across the epidermis. In another embodiment, the modifying agent can modify the epidermis to enable measurement and/or monitoring of physiological conditions or change within or beneath the epidermis. The modifying agents can also be employed to facilitate discharge of fluids from within an organism, such as by providing pathways for discharge of fluids from a tumor. Examples of modifying agents include: oxidizing agents; reducing agents; particles, such as optical indicator beads or beads that include drugs to be released into tissue; electrically-charged particles or molecules; etc. Materials that can be transported by the method of the invention include, for example, proteins, nucleic acids, electrically charged molecules or particles, microorganisms suitable for immunization, etc. Also, tissues other than skin can be employed in the method of the invention.
