    • An autostereoscopic display provides an extremely deep projection area by observing a relationship between a desired depth of projection and an autostereoscopic display design that includes a focal length of lenticles of a lenticular array and a number of views. The relationship specifies a projected depth at which lenticular crossover can occur for a given autostereoscopic with the specific lenticular focal length and number of views. Approximations can be used to simplify the relationship such that the projected depth is directly related to a product of the focal length and the number of views. To reduce optical aberrations, lenticles of the lenticular array include meniscus-cylinder lenses.

    • Paper notes used as a monetary currency are deuterated. The level of deuteration while not complete, is high. For U.S. currency the level of deuteration is at least 0.1 mg of deuterium for each one dollar in value of the currency note, and preferably at least 0.3 mg. Use of X-ray or gamma ray interrogation with a beam energy above 2 MeV produces a nuclear reaction releasing a neutron from the deuterium nucleus. If the currency is in large concentrations, e.g. $100,000 or more, the neutrons emitted by this reaction are reliably detectable. The deuteration occurs in the cellulose fibers forming the currency. To resist an exchange of hydrogen atoms for deterium atoms, the deuterium atoms can be used in the formation of synthetic cellulose where the deuterium is more deeply buried within the cellulose molecule than in naturally occurring cellulose. The deuterated synthetic fibers are blended with natural, non-deuterated fibers to form the paper. The currency can also include a mechanism, such as dye, to signal attempts to use solvents or otherwise facilitate any such hydrogen substitution.

    • An optical device that is optically neutral to normal light but absorbs highly collimated light is formed as a mosaic of optical cells. Each cell has at least two refracting surfaces and a non linear material at a focus internal to those surfaces. In one form, the cell comprises two pairs of lenses with a layer of non-linear light absorbent material interposed between the lenses of each pair. The lens elements can be one-power telescopes. A first lens element focuses highly collimated light at its entrance aperture on the non-linear layer. The intensity of the focused light causes the non-linear layer to become opaque or reflective and thereby reduce, or substantially block, the transmission of highly collimated light. The second pair of lenses inverts the re-collimated light exiting the first lens pair. By arranging the optical cells in an array, it is possible to obtain a coherence of the light diffracted from individual cells to produce a wave front from the mosaic as a whole having a resolution that is superior to that of the cells.

    • A single pixel of a video display can display respective individual pixels of multiple views. In other words, a video display can include more views for an autostereoscopic image than the physical pixels of the video display would ordinarily support. The physical pixel is time-multiplexed in that the physical pixel displays a pixel of one view for a given time interval and a view multiplexer deflects the light from the physical pixel by a predetermined angle to make the pixel appear in a location corresponding to the pixel of the view. In another time interval, the physical pixel displays a pixel of a different view and the view multiplexer deflects light from the physical pixel by a different predetermined angle to make the pixel appear in a location corresponding to the pixel of the different view.
