    • The method and system for channel estimation in a single channel (SC) single-input multiple-output (SIMO) system described herein may provide a fast and cost effective approach to concurrently determine propagation channel estimates in a single-transmit (1-Tx) and multiple-receive (M-Rx) antennas wireless communication system. A single weight baseband generator may comprise a set generator, a channel estimator, and an algorithm generator. The set generator may generate orthogonal function sequences that may be applied to the M receive antennas and may be utilized by the channel estimator to generate channels estimates. The orthogonal function sequences may be transferred to the channel estimator after a delay. The algorithm generator may generate phase values based on the channels estimates that may be applied to the M receive antennas to improve the system's signal-to-noise performance.

    • Methods and systems for processing signals in a receiver are disclosed herein and may comprise generating at least one channel estimate of a time varying impulse response for at least one of a plurality of received clusters within at least one received signal, where a cluster may comprise an aggregate of continuously processed received multipaths. The generated channel estimate may be transformed to at least one flat fading channel estimate utilizing at least one signal-to-noise ratio optimization algorithm. Complex waveforms, comprising in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) components, may be processed for the plurality of received clusters within the received signal, and the processed complex waveforms may be filtered. The resulting filtered waveforms may be convolved with the generated channel estimate to generate a convolved input signal. A weight signal for the transforming may be generated, utilizing the at least one signal-to-noise ratio optimization algorithm and the generated convolved input signal.

    • Certain embodiments for antenna geometry for multiple antenna handsets may include receiving RF signals via a patch antenna coupled to a signal processing circuitry within a mobile terminal. The signal processing circuitry may process the RF signals, comprising at least one of a plurality of polarizations that are received by the patch antenna. The patch antenna may be a dual-polarized antenna, and may comprise a plurality of ports. RF signals at a first of the plurality of ports may be orthogonally polarized with respect to RF signals at a second of the plurality of ports. The patch antenna may be optimized to receive multiple RF bands. Each of the multiple RF bands may be communicated via different ports to be processed.

    • Methods and systems for communicating information via a plurality of different networks are disclosed herein. Aspects of the method may comprise receiving broadcast information in a mobile terminal via a VHF/UHF broadcast communication path. Cellular information in the mobile terminal comprising voice and data may be received via at least one cellular communication path. Reception in the mobile terminal may be switched between reception of the broadcast information via the VHF/UHF broadcast communication path and the cellular information via the at least one cellular communication path based on a preference indicated via the mobile terminal.
