    • The light emitting diode to illuminate the indicating portion of the pointer and the face plate through the light conductive member is fixedly mounted on a drive unit that rotates the pointer shaft according to the amount of a measured quantity. The light emitting diode is installed in center openings formed in the pointer, face plate and light conducting member, the light conducting member being attached to the underside of the face plate to illuminate letters on the face plate. The light emitting portion of the diode is formed cylindrical so as to allow the pointer shaft to be fixed to the pointer inside the hollow portion of the cylindrical light emitting portion, so that light radiated from the light emitting portion is reliably introduced into the indicator portion of the pointer and also to the light conducting member. Thus construction simplifies the power supply path leading from the drive unit to the light emitting diode.

    • Enhancing efficiency in assembling a waterproof switch, and enhance flexibility of seal design. The waterproof switch 7 includes a plunger 11 accommodated in a cylindrical case 10 capable of moving in the longitudinal direction, and to which a spring 17 applies a force in a direction. One end of the plunger 11 is provided with a common contact point 16 which contacts with contact point terminals 18 and 19 when predetermined amount of displacement to the spring 17 which applies the force to the plunder 11 is provided. A concave portion 10a is that to which a seal 13 for a sliding part of the plunger 11 is attached, and this concave portion 10a is provided to an end portion of the case 10. Assembling is proceeded while recognizing how the seal 13 is attached thereto from the appearance in the assembling process.

    • Disclosed is an indicator which includes a scale plate having a ground color, a pointer rotatably mounted on the scale plate and indicia such as numerals and scales arranged on the scale plate for indicating a specific value in cooperation with the pointer. The pointer includes an upper surface on which a fluorescent part having fluorescent brightener therein is formed, and the area of the fluorescent part of the pointer is smaller than that of the upper surface of the pointer. Each of the indicia has a contour defined by a normal ink having a different color from the ground color of the scale plate and a fluorescent part having fluorescent brightener therein formed in the contour of each indicia. The area of the fluorescent part of the indicia is smaller than that of the indicia. This indicator further includes an unltraviolet light source for illuminating the fluorescent parts of the pointer and the indicia so as to fluoresce only when the ultraviolet light source is turned on, whereby suppressing that the indicia and pointer become too bright and distracting for a driver when illuminated by the ultraviolet light source.

    • A gauge for a vehicle has a spontaneous light-emission type pointer with a built-in light-emitting device. The pointer is fixed to a pointer shaft rotatably driven in accordance with a measured value. A solid circuit member for supporting a light-emitting device and for coupling the light-emitting device to the pointer shaft is fixed to the pointer. The solid circuit member has a first plated conductive layer for electrically connecting one of the terminals of the light-emitting device to the pointer shaft, and a second plated conductive layer for electrically connecting the other of the terminals to a spring abutment fixed to the pointer shaft in an insulating fashion. The solid circuit member is connected to a power source for lighting the light-emitting device. Consequently, a number of parts required for supplying power to the light-emitting diode can be reduced.
