摘要： A flush pump feature on a liquid purifying filter includes a segment of flexible tubing containing a small bulb pump is described. Two check valves are positioned upstream and downstream of the bulb pump which then terminates with a simple manually operated open/closed valve. The addition of this flush pump feature enables the filter unit to be easily purged of air at first use and also will make the filter easier to clean and maintain without the need to remove it from a hydration carrier. In addition, the flush bulb feature can also be used to perform a simple visual integrity test of filter while out in a remote location and also can be used to effectively remove bulk water from the filter for lighter storage when not in use which also minimizes freeze related damage when used in a cold environment.

摘要： A flushable filter system is configured to purify a contaminated liquid containing substances that degrade filter performance and includes a filter cartridge including semi-permeable hollow fiber membrane that separates the filter cartridge into an upstream compartment and a downstream compartment. The system includes a flush port in communication with the upstream compartment of the filter cartridge for periodically discharging accumulated particulates and contaminates from an upstream side of the semi-permeable hollow fiber membrane. A device is provided to reduce mechanical stress imposed on the semi-permeable hollow fiber membrane during operation of the flushable filter system resulting in maintenance of integrity of the semi-permeable hollow fiber membrane during extended use and cyclic operation of the filter cartridge. The device is configured to dampen any fluid pressure spike that is observed within the flushable filter system during operation thereof.

摘要： A dual-stage filtration cartridge is provided. The cartridge can be embodied as a mid-dilution hemodiafiltration cartridge or a redundant sterilization filtration cartridge. The cartridge includes a housing having a first end and an opposing second end. The housing has a primary fluid inlet and outlet at the first end of the cartridge. The housing also defines first and second filtration stages with the first filtration stage including first filtering elements disposed between the first and second ends of the housing. Each stage has a separate inter-lumen fiber space, but shares a common extra-lumen space. The primary fluid inlet communicates with the first filtering elements at the first end so that fluid flows through the first filtering elements toward the second end. The second filtration stage includes second filtering elements disposed between the first and second ends of the housing with the fluid outlet communicating with the second filtering elements at the first end.
