    • Provided is a method of removing noise from digital moving picture data reducing the number of frames used in a temporal filtering operation and able to detect motion between frames easily. The method comprises a method of spatial filtering, a method of temporal filtering, and a method of performing the spatial filtering and the temporal filtering sequentially. The spatial filtering method applies a spatial filtering in a YCbCr color space, preserving a contour/edge in the image in the spatial domain, and generating a weight that is adaptive to the noise for discriminating the contour/edge in the temporal filtering operation. The temporal filtering method applies temporal filtering based on motion detection and scene change detection, compensating for global motion, the motion detection considering the brightness difference and color difference of the pixels compared between frames in the temporal filtering operation, and a weight that is adaptive to the noise for detecting the motion in the temporal filtering operation. The spatial filtering method is preferably performed first, and the temporal filtering method is performed with the result of the spatial filtering.

    • There is provided a de-interlacing method including: receiving first and third image lines; selecting an upper vector having an N number of pixels among the first image lines, and selecting a lower vector having an N number of pixels among the third image lines; obtaining a weighted value on the basis of a relation between the pixels within the upper vector and a relation between the pixels within the lower vector; selecting an edge direction from the selected upper vector, the selected lower vector, and the obtained weighted value; and interpolating a pixel belonging to a second image line between the first and third image lines on the basis of the selected edge direction.

    • Disclosed is a method for removing image noise using pattern information, which filters noise caught by a sensor during preprocessing of a compression codec, so as to increase a compression efficiency, and noise caused by the codec during post-processing of the codec, so as to obtain high quality images. The method includes the steps of: (a) carrying out region dispersion with respect to input image signals so that the image signals are dispersed with a predetermined pixel size; (b) calculating mean brightness of the input image signals and carrying out noise dispersion with respect to the input image signals; (c) switching a low frequency and a high frequency based on image signals which are subjected to the region dispersion and the noise dispersion; (d) removing noise based on a statistic after obtaining the region average with respect to the image signals having the low frequency; and (e) removing noise based on a similarity of pixels after analyzing patterns with relation to the image signals having the high frequency.
