    • A tree cap has a wedge type annular metal seal for capping and sealing a subsea tree and associated methods to energize the same. The tree cap includes a cam element having a lower end with a conical profile adapted to be disposed within a respective bore of the subsea tree. The cam element moves along an axis of the bore. The annular metal seal is disposed on an outer diameter of the cam element so that the cam element may compress the annular metal seal against an actuation member to seal the bore of the subsea tree. The tree cap includes a housing adapted to be disposed on and secure to the subsea tree. The housing carries the cam element and exerts an axial force on the cam element to deform the annular metal seal into sealing engagement between the tree cap and the subsea tree.

    • Systems, methods, and apparatus for simulating natural media painting in a digital painting application (or painting simulation module) may provide an automatic brush cleaning feature and an automatic brush filling feature, which may be separately selectable by a user. When enabled, these features may cause the digital painting application (or simulation module) to automatically clean a virtual paint brush (e.g., by emptying both a reservoir buffer and a pickup buffer of a brush model) and/or automatically fill the virtual paint brush with paint (e.g., by storing data representing paint in the reservoir buffer) between brush strokes. These automated actions may be performed in response to detecting the completion of a brush stroke, or in response to detecting the initiation of a next brush stroke. Settings for these automated actions may be overridden by initiating manual brush cleaning and/or filling operations between strokes (e.g., following any automated actions that are enabled).

    • A seal assembly for use between wellbore tubulars employs an inner seal ring partially circumscribed by an outer seal ring. The seal rings are axially slidable with respect to one another and can be made from pliable inelastic materials such as graphite or a fluoropolymer. The seal rings contact one another along profiled surfaces that are angled such that by axially urging the seal rings towards one another produces a bulge in the seal assembly directed radially outwards and inwards. The bulging seal rings come into contact with opposing sides of the wellbore tubulars to define a sealing surface. Axial supports at opposing lateral ends of the seal rings maintain the seal between the tubulars.

    • The subject of this patent is a system to generate RF frequency hopped signals that can be used to test radio receivers over the range of their signal specifications. The hop sequence and symbols in the signal is decoded from signals transmitted by the same or different radio of the same specification. The system can set various signal parameters to any prescribed value. These parameters include carrier frequency error, bit rate error, rise and fall times, amplitude ripple and roll off, modulation depth, nonlinearities, burst duration, burst start time and burst interval. Signal interference can be added to the signal including tones, other signals, noise and other signals of the same as the test radio. Similarly other communications equipment can be tested by the combination of receiving and demodulating a transmitted and regenerating the signal with the same symbols with specified signal parameters.

    • A system and method for determining the track of a projectile use a thermal signature of the projectile. Sequential infrared image frames are acquired from a sensor at a given position. A set of frames containing spots with characteristics consistent with a projectile in flight are identified. A possible projectile track solution for said spots is identified. A thermal signature value for each pixel of each spot of the possible solution is determined. The determined thermal signature is then compared to an actual thermal signature for a substantially similar projectile track to ascertain whether the determined thermal signature substantially matches the actual thermal signature, which indicates that the possible projectile track solution is the correct solution.

A plurality of wireless subscriber units each generates a wireless subscriber signal including internal data traits and external signal traits. The internal data traits include an identification code. A RF downconverter is located remote from the wireless subscriber units and receives the wireless subscriber signal. A characterizing device is connected to the RF downconverter and extracts parameters that characterize the external signal traits of the wireless subscriber units. A decision device computes the likelihood that the observed parameters belong to the validated wireless subscriber unit to determine if access to the wireless subscriber service should be granted. The apparatus may be used to prevent cellular telephone cloning fraud.
