    • A printer (1) in which a first sheet (5) to be imaged by printhead (3) is followed by a trailing media sheet. The first sheet is stopped intermittently so that the printhead can traverse the first sheet to print a partial image. The trailing media sheet is stopped behind the first sheet and is moved intermittently until it reaches or is near nip rollers (9a, 9b). Exit rollers 11a, 11b, 11c, and 11d move the first sheet out of the printer. When the exit rollers and the nip roller move forward and backward together the first sheet may be exited before the nip rollers are reversed to align the second sheet. Alternatively, the first sheet may be moved backward during alignment. The intermittent movement of the sheets may be at different times and with the trailing sheet moved less times and longer amounts than the first sheet is moved.

    • The prior art discloses a surgical stapler having an anvil surface terminating in a flange, a staple feed track movably containing a plurality of staples and a staple forming track movably containing a forming blade. The improved stapler of this invention discloses the nondistal portion of the feed track being substantially parallel to the forming track. Further, the distal portion of the feed track is in substantial alignment with the distal portion of the forming track. Also the distal ends of the tracks are open in the same direction. Finally, the distal end of the feed track is between the anvil flange and the distal end of the forming track.

    • A method for calibrating the printing of a lenticular image with respect to the lenticules of a lenticular sheet includes the steps of printing a test pattern including a plurality of patches on a lenticular sheet with an ink jet printer. The patches are printed on a surface opposite the lenticules and each patch includes a series of line segments that extend in the same direction as the lenticules as aligned in the ink jet printer. The spacing of the line segments within each patch is varied in a known manner from patch to patch. The patches are sensed though the lenticules with a sensing device, and the sensed data is analyzed to determine which patch corresponds to sensed data that has the fewest light and dark bands. A calibration factor is calculated based on the analysis, and the calibration factor is used to subsequently print a lenticular image on the same or a second lenticular sheet of the same type. In a further embodiment, the method comprises aligning a lenticular sheet in the ink jet printer such that the lenticules are perpendicular to a main printing direction of the ink jet printer; sensing the lenticules on said lenticular sheet with the sensing device; analyzing the sensed data in the processing unit to determine the lenticule spacing; calculating a calibration factor based upon the analysis; and using the calibration factor to subsequently print a lenticular image.
