    • A conventional vibrator for actuating small diameter pump is tapped at the small volume pressure chamber and communicated to a plugged, elongate hose, thus expanding the actuating pressure chamber of the vibrator conveniently to virtually any required volume within the small casing environment. With the expanded pressure chamber, cycle period of the vibrator can be extended to virtually any desired time cycle without performance limiting closure of the needle valve regulator. An elongate bladder forms the periodic pressure actuated positive displacement volume for the pump. By increased length of the bladder, correspondingly increased cycle pumping volume is provided for the pump. At the same time, bladder expansion provides sufficient pump inlet pressure to enable the use of free floating check valves. A high volume, slow cycle pump for the narrow casing environment results.

    • A pump, submerged in a fluid in a pump or well, has a buoyant outer, enclosing casing. Communicated to the casing are a conduit to supplying compressed air to the casing, a conduit for carrying the exhausted air away from the casing, an inlet and check valve for permitting entry of fluid into the casing, and an outlet and a check valve connected to discharge piping for carrying fluid away from the casing. The outer casing slides vertically relative to the discharge piping and is supported by the discharge piping for vertical movement between upper and lower stops where the casing actuates an air exhaust valve and a compressed air inlet valve. When the buoyant casing is in the upper position, air within the casing can escape through the open chamber air exhaust valve and compressed air entry is blocked to the casing through the closed compressed air inlet valve. When the casing is in the lower position, air within the casing is blocked from escape by the closed chamber air exhaust valve and compressed air entry enters the casing through the open compressed air inlet valve. Fluid to be pumped, entering and exiting the casing, changes the casing buoyancy, and this buoyancy acts with full force with the biasing means, opening and closing the valves to cycle the pump between the upper and lower position, causing pumping to occur.

    • A float (26) resides at an interface (21) between a first liquid (20) floating on another liquid (22). A pneumatic pressure sensor (32) senses back-pressure at the float (26) via a conduit (30) and a bubbler hole, or pressure sensing point (28) and relays the information to a recorder (37). Also, a combination detection and recovery device employs the above detection device coupled with a floating liquid skimming device. The recovery unit (90) of the skimming device has a bubbler hole (168) connected to pressure sensor (32) via conduit (30). The pressure sensor (32) is then connected to a pump (88) via another conduit (38). When the pressure at the bubbler hole (168) reaches a predetermined value corresponding to a given fluid thickness, the sensor (32) activates the pump (88) which moves the floating liquid (20) from the recovery unit (90) to a fluid receptacle (102). The apparatus is adapted for use inside of well casings (50) as well as for liquids (22) with larger surface areas, such as fluid storage tanks, lakes, and streams. The float (97) can be constructed employing a semipermeable membrane (110) which allows one liquid to enter and excludes the other.

    • A submersible pump is disclosed for use in a body of liquid such as a well or sump. The pump has an air intake port and an air outlet port, as well as a liquid intake port and a liquid discharge tube. A valve mounted within the pump selectively permits the pump's chamber to communicate with either the air intake port or the air discharge port. When liquid enters the pump's chamber, the air displaced by the incoming liquid is permitted by the valve to escape via the air outlet port. When the pump's chamber is sufficiently full of liquid, the valve closes off the air outlet port and permits compressed air to enter the pump's chamber via the air inlet port in order to force the accumulated liquid out the liquid discharge tube. A float in the pump's chamber rises and falls with the level of liquid in the chamber to actuate the valve. In one embodiment the valve comprises a movable member mounted for linear reciprocating movement within a valve housing to selectively bring a carried through-passage into fluidic communication with the appropriate air port. In a second embodiment, the valve comprises a movable member mounted for rotating reciprocating movement within a valve housing to selectively bring a carried through-passage into fluidic communication with the appropriate air port.

    • A game for creating and enlivening discussions between two or more people based upon images produced using liquid drops on a semi-absorbent surface. A few drops of liquid are randomly applied to a surface such as paper that has been treated to render a significant color change due to the reaction of the constituents of the liquid. The paper can be folded or twisted to enhance spreading of the liquid and absorption of the liquid into the paper and create a somewhat symmetrical image on the surface. The image thus formed is then used within the game. The game is then played according to the guidelines, if any, chosen by the participants before beginning.
