摘要： In a disclosed embodiment, an ultra-cold-matter (UCM) system includes a source cell nested within a hermetically-sealed ultra-high-vacuum (UHV) enclosure. Source particles, e.g., strontium atoms, can be generated within the source cell by heating a non-vapor-phase source material. The source cell is thermally isolated, e.g., by UHV, from the enclosure. Accordingly, heat is retained in the source cell, reducing the amount of heat that must be generated in the source cell to generate the vapor-phase source particles. Particles can exit the source cell to an UHV ultra-cold region where the source particles can be cooled to produce ultra-cold particles thermally isolated from the heat within the source cell.

摘要： The tool reduces or stops the flow of liquid or gas through a conduit and includes a crimping section, comprised of a first and second crimping member pivotally engaged with each other, and a handle section, comprised of a first and second handle member pivotally connected to each other. Each crimping member has a blunt section extending partially along an edge thereof. The first and second handle members are connected to the first and second crimping members. The conduit is crimped by applying a force to the handle members causing the handle members and the crimping members to pivot in a direction opposite each other so that the blunt sections of crimping members crimp a conduit placed therebetween thereby reducing or stopping the flow of the liquid or gas flowing through the conduit. The tool may also hold objects and be locked via separate locking mechanisms.

摘要： An air stabilization system employing two parallel, opposite-facing Coanda nozzles, with each nozzle exhausting gas at opposite directions, subjects a moving flexible web to opposing forces effective to create local tension within the web. Each nozzle includes an elongated slot that is perpendicular to the path of the moving web. The nozzles serve as separate points along the machine direction for controlling the height of the web. The operative surface with the nozzles can exhibit a flush surface. The nozzles can be formed on elevated structures on the operative surface. The operative surface can be covered with a transparent substrate to minimize shape distortions on the moving web and to prevent debris from collecting around the sensor. By modulating the velocities of gases exiting the nozzles, the shape of the web can be manipulated to present a planar contour. The air stabilization system can be incorporated into a caliper scanner.
