    • One aspect of the present invention generally relates to methods of sealing a wound or tissue plane or filling a void splace. In a preferred embodiment, the wound is an ophthalmic, pleural or dural wound. In certain instances, the compositions used to seal the wound or tissue plane comprises a polyalkyleneamine. In a preferred embodiment, the polyalkyleneamine is polyethyleneimine. Treatment of the polyethyleneimine with a cross-linking reagent causes the polyethyleneimine polymers to polymerize forming a seal. In certain instances, the cross-linking reagent is a polyethylene glycol having reactive terminal groups. In certain instances, the reactive terminal groups are activated esters, such as N-hydroxy succinimide ester. In certain instances, the reactive terminal groups are isocyanates. In certain instances, the polyethyleneimine has a lysine, cysteine, isocysteine or other nucleophilic group attached to the periphery of the polymer. In certain instances, the polyethyleneimine is mixed with a second polymer, such as a polyethylene glycol containing nucleophilic groups. In certain instances, the compositions used to seal the wound or tissue plane are formed by reacting a polyalkyleneamine bearing electrophilic groups with a cross-linking reagent containing nucleophilic groups. In certain instances, the electrophilic groups on the polyalkyleneamine are activated esters, such as N-hydroxy succinimide ester. In certain instances, the compositions used to seal the wound or tissue plane are formed by reacting a polyalkyleneamine bearing photopolymerizable groups with ultraviolet or visibile light. Compositions used to seal the wound which contain PEI or a derivative of PEI are found to adhere tightly to the tissue. Other aspects of the present invention relate to methods of filling a void of a patient or adhering tissue. In certain instances, the methods use a polyalkyleneamine. In a preferred embodiment, the polyalkyleneamine is polyethyleneimine. Another aspect of the present invention relates to a polymeric composition formed by exposing a polyalkyleneamine to an activated polyalkylene glycol. In certain instances, the composition is attached to mammalian tissue.

    • An adjustment mechanism for a car seat provides multiple vertical locking positions for adjusting the attitude of a seat with respect to an automobile seat cushion and back. The car seat has a base with forward and rear support walls each having a key way matching the profile of the stem portion of a locking plunger. The plunger has a forward handle portion and a pair of shoulder portions extending to the rear of the plunger which engage mating recesses in a key way formed in an adjustable support member. The adjustable support member is slidably arranged between the forward and rear support walls of the base. The plunger is spring biased by a spring mounted in a spring aperture formed in the rear of the plunger stem. The relative positions of the support member and the car seat base are adjusted by withdrawing the plunger until the shoulder portions clear the support member key way, adjusting the position of the support member with respect to the car seat base and releasing the plunger to enable the spring to force the plunger rearwardly into the support member key way.

    • A removable latching assembly for use with a child's stroller. The stroller has a latch support post with a latch lug and a bearing surface, and a pivot support post with a bearing surface. The latching assembly includes a latching portion having an engagement surface and a manually operable latch lever with a pawl engagable with the latch lug, and a pivot portion with a bearing surface slidably engagable with the bearing surface of the pivot support post. To install, the pivot portion is maneuvered onto the pivot post bearing surface, the assembly is rotated by substantially ninety degrees about the bearing surface of the pivot support post until the latching portion engagement surface encounters the bearing surface of the latch support post. The latch lever is manipulated to engage the latching pawl with the latch lug. The assembly is removed by opening the latch lever until the pawl disengages from the latch lug, after which the assembly can be rotated about the pivot support post and removed from the stroller.

    • A car seat is constructed to be adaptable for use by children within the toddler-size range and the youth-size range. In particular, the car seat includes cam-shaped arm rests which can be rotated about an axis roughly parallel to a seat bottom, with the rotation resulting in supporting surfaces at different heights relative to the seat bottom. In addition, the car seat has a base portion which allows a seat body to be reclined relative to the base portion, and a five-point harness which is easily removed or adjusted for children of varying heights. The car seat also has a moveable or removable head support. The car seat can be adjusted for children of varying heights and weights, avoiding the costs of multiple car seats for different sized children.
