    • A method and system for interfacing between a portable media device and one or more media content providers. The method may be practiced, for example, in a system including the portable media device that receives content from one or more media content providers. The method can include identifying a first data format employed by the portable media device and a second data format employed by a selected media content provider. A data stream is received from the selected media content provider. The data received from the selected media content provider can be modified to be compatible with the first data format. Alternately or additionally, the data stream can be filtered to eliminate content that is unnecessary for the portable media device. The method further includes communicating the formatted data to the portable media device.

    • A personal media device transmits media content to one or more nearby personal media devices so that users can dynamically and easily share content. The method includes, on a first media player device having or having access to selected media content, playing the selected media content such that it can be listened to on a first user's headphones. The selected media content is also transmitted such that it can be received and simultaneously played by one or more authorized media player devices associated with additional users. The transmitted content is preferable secure so that only authorized users can access it. The media player devices receiving the transmitted content can be wireless headsets configured to receive and simultaneously play the content.

    • In accordance with a game method, game information regarding one or more player selectable elements and awards associated with those elements is generated and stored. The player selectable elements are displayed and a player is permitted to select one or more of those elements. Each selected element is destroyed, unmasking or triggering an associated award. The award may be a monetary or credit value, symbol or secondary event. A secondary event may comprise an explosion or chain reaction destruction of other un-selected elements, which elements are unmasked to reveal associated awards or trigger additional secondary events. The game may be presented on a gaming machine, and may comprise a primary game or bonus round of another game.

    • The invention provides a novel method of facilitating the acquisition of a life insurance policy on the life of an insured. The method involves interaction among a borrower, a lender, a service provider and a collateral agent. Using the inventive method of the present invention, the borrower is able to acquire funds, on an non-recourse basis, from the lender for payment of one or more premiums on the life insurance policy with minimal impact on liquidity. The service provider agrees to provide certain services to the borrower under a service agreement during the term of the service agreement; the borrower's obligations under service agreement are non-recourse. The life insurance policy and its proceeds are held as security for the borrower's obligations to the lender and the service provider by a collateral agent.

    • The present invention consists of a general purpose, software-controlled central processor (CP) augmented by a set of task specific, specialized peripheral processors (PPs). The central processor accomplishes its functions with the support of the PPs. Peripheral processors may include but are not limited to a packet parser, which provides the central processor with a numerical summary of the packet format; a packet deconstructor, which extracts designated fields from the packet the positions of which are determined by the central processor according to the packet format; a search engine, which is supplied a lookup index by and returns its results to the central processor; and a packet editor which modifies the packet as determined by the central processor using (in part) information returned from other peripherals. At each step in the use of this network processor system, the central processor has an opportunity to intervene and modify the handling of the packet based on its interpretation of PP results. The programmable nature of the CP and the PPs provides the system with flexibility and adaptability: rather than having to modify a circuit or system design in an ASIC or other hardware, new packet processing applications may be accommodated through the development of new software and its deployment in the central and/or peripheral processors.

    • The present invention is directed to polymer compositions with flame retardant properties that are made from a polymer blended using a defined process with a smectite clay that has been reacted with a specified mixture of organic materials. The inventive compositions have the property that when the organically modified clay is added to the polymer, a composite results which has flame-retardant properties and is based on the finding that degree of dispersion of a smectite organoclay in a polymer matrix will give the compositions flame-retardant properties. Further, it has been found that it is very important to proper functioning of the flame retardant polymer compositions that they have the organoclay dispersed in the polymer such that it is not completely exfoliated.
