    • A computer-based method and system for capturing and verifying a handwritten signature. The handwritten signature may relate to a document, such as an electronically stored document. An image of the document is displayed. A user signs the document electronically, and the handwritten signature is electronically captured. A set of measurements relating to the handwritten signature is determined and stored in a signature envelope. Optionally, a checksum of a checksum of the document can be determined and stored in the signature envelope. The claimed identity of the signatory can also be stored in the signature envelope. The signature envelope is encrypted. The signature envelope can be communicated to another application or computer platform, or stored for later verification. The signature envelope is decrypted, and the set of measurements stored in the signature envelope are compared against a known set of handwritten signature measurements to verify the identity of the signatory. The system includes a database of signature templates storing verified signature information. The verified set of signature measurements are compared with the set of measurements stored in the signature envelope to obtain a similarity score. The present invention includes a gravity prompt feature to alert the signatory as to the nature, seriousness and/or contents of what is being signed. The gravity prompt can be stored in the signature envelope as part of the record of the signing event.

    • An apparatus and method for monitoring environmental conditions that processes information to create and display information concerning changes in the status of environmental conditions. The apparatus comprises a means of transforming measured values of more than one parameter of the condition using a function dependent on at least one of the baseline and critical values of the conditions. In a preferred form, the function is a non-linear transformation function. The apparatus further includes mapping values for mapping the function to a sequence of reference values and generating a deviation indicator for each parameter. The deviation indicators are then analyzed to generate and display information concerning the changed status of the environmental (i.e., meteorological or geological) conditions.

    • Disclosed herein is a cover for a semi-trailer vehicle having a cargo support surface bordered by a pair of longitudinal edge regions. The cover has a roof and a pair of side walls forming a cargo receiving passage therebetween; each of the pair of side walls terminating at a longitudinal free edge region to expose the cargo receiving passage to the cargo support surface. A lifting arrangement lifts the cover between a first position above the cargo support surface and a second position in abutment with the cargo support surface. Couplings removably couple each of the longitudinal free edge regions to a corresponding longitudinal edge region.

    • A culturing fluid of defined bacterial consortia is placed within a cultivation apparatus to generate growths of either a bioconcretious or biocolloidal form within, or attached to surfaces exposed to, the culturing fluid. Such growths involve the interactive activities between all of the bacterial consortia to generate growths and economically attractive chemical daughter and end products within the fluid environment bounded by the cultivation apparatus. The cultivation apparatus allows the culturing fluid to flow along passageways that have alternating constricted and expanded zones in a manner that creates the growth of bioconcretious or biocolloidal structures within which the bacterial consortia interact to allow maintenance of these growth structures and stimulate the production of the desired chemical products of significance. The bacterial consortia generate either biocolloids or bioconcretions within an electrically charged field that is generated by the interaction of the consortia with dissimilar metal or carbon surfaces of the passageways. The grown interacting bacterial consortia and their culturing fluids can be used as sources of chemicals such as therapeutic agents that are anti-microbial, probiotic, anti-biotic, or anti-cancer agents.
