    • Systems and methods for providing traction to the lower back, where in one embodiment, a lumbar traction device has a back support, a base and a movable support structure connected between the base and the underside of the back support. The support structure enables the back support to move with respect to the base. When a user lies on the lumbar traction device, the user's weight causes the back support to move with respect to the base to apply tension to the user's back. The back support may have two separate portions on which the upper and lower back rest. The two portions of the back support move in opposite directions to provide traction on the back.

    • Systems and methods for customized presentation of video content. In one embodiment, a system includes a processor coupled to one or more data sources that store video content and skip data which identifies potentially objectionable portions of the video content. The processor identifies a user-provided indication of a level of objectionability and determines which portions of the video content are objectionable based on the skip data and user input. The video content that is not indicated to be objectionable is displayed to a user via a video display device, while those portions that are indicated to be objectionable are inhibited by the processor (e.g., by distorting them or simply not displaying them at all). The skip data may be stored independently of the video content, and may be used to customize presentation of the same video content differently for different viewers.

    • Systems and methods for disinfecting/sanitizing various articles using disinfecting solutions and ultraviolet (UV) light. In one embodiment, an exemplary system includes a tank that contains a sanitizing liquid, coupled to a pipe system that includes multiple spray nozzles. A pump pumps the sanitizing liquid from the tank to the nozzles, which dispense the liquid to a disinfecting area. Some or all of the system may be mounted on a transportable mobile unit such as a trailer. In one embodiment, a portion including the tank and pump are mounted on the mobile unit and are connectable to a pipe system and nozzles that are permanently installed in a disinfecting area, such as the interior of a vehicle. Other embodiments are also possible.

    • Systems and methods for gravel packing which provide a mechanism for a gravel slurry to bypass bridges which may form in the well intervals being packed. In one embodiment, a plurality of short, independent bypass flow paths are provided along the length of a well screen. Each of the bypass flow paths comprises a sub-interval of the length of the well screen. The bypass flow paths are preferably staggered to allow the upper ends of the flow paths to be spaced at intervals along the length of the well screen which are shorter than the lengths of the flow paths themselves.
