    • A photonic-crystal surface-emitting laser (PCSEL) includes a gain medium electromagnetically coupled to a photonic crystal whose energy band structure exhibits a Dirac cone of linear dispersion at the center of the photonic crystal's Brillouin zone. This Dirac cone's vertex is called a Dirac point; because it is at the Brillouin zone center, it is called an accidental Dirac point. Tuning the photonic crystal's band structure (e.g., by changing the photonic crystal's dimensions or refractive index) to exhibit an accidental Dirac point increases the photonic crystal's mode spacing by orders of magnitudes and reduces or eliminates the photonic crystal's distributed in-plane feedback. Thus, the photonic crystal can act as a resonator that supports single-mode output from the PCSEL over a larger area than is possible with conventional PCSELs, which have quadratic band edge dispersion. Because output power generally scales with output area, this increase in output area results in higher possible output powers.

    • An unlocking method for a handheld electrical device with a normal mode and a limited mode is disclosed. The handheld electrical device in the normal mode is able to display all contents of an application installed on the handheld electrical device. The handheld electrical device in the limited mode is able to display only part of the contents of the application. The unlocking method includes the following steps: at least one unlocking input without a user account is obtained from an input unit of the handheld electrical device when the handheld electrical device is under a locked status. The unlocking input is compared with first preset data and second preset data to generate a comparison result. The locked status of the handheld electrical device is released according to the comparison result.

    • A system and method are provided to edit interactive three-dimensional multimedia. A user interface of the system is provided with an event level template that includes event series levels with multiple event developing points. Through the user interface, multiple interactive events related to a first character of the event developing point are edited. Through a three-dimensional engine, interactive relevances are built up between interactive events and multiple materials inside one or more database. When the interactive three-dimensional multimedia with multiple materials is output, the interactive events corresponding to the event developing points are performed according to a user command. An online editing and exchanging method integrated with the system and method is also provided to share pre-edited templates on an exchange server; each of the pre-edited templates is extracted from an interactive three-dimensional multimedia pre-edited by the system and method.

    • An electronic device and a user interface display method thereof are provided. The electronic device organizes a plurality of computer programs executable on the electronic device into a virtual book. Each page of the virtual book includes a user interface of one of the computer programs. The electronic device displays one of the pages as a current page so that the user interface of the current page is accessible to a user of the electronic device. The electronic device senses movement and/or pressure caused by the user and interprets the movement and/or the pressure as operating actions of the user on the virtual book. The electronic device downloads new computer programs from a download server and adds corresponding new pages into the virtual book. At lease one of the computer programs provides a service of a corporate operator of a wireless service network.
