    • A liquid crystal display (LCD) capable of preventing light leakage includes first and second gate lines which extend in a horizontal direction, a data line which is insulated from the first and second gate lines and crosses the first and second gate lines, first and second thin film transistors (TFTs) which are respectively connected to the first and second gate lines and are connected to the data line, and a pixel electrode which extends in zigzag fashion at an inclination to the first and second gate lines and is divided into a first area and a second area in a direction in which the pixel electrode extends. The pixel electrode includes a first sub-pixel electrode which is connected to the first TFT and has the first area and upper and lower portions of the second area, and a second sub-pixel electrode which is connected to the second TFT, has a middle portion of the second area, and has a lateral side adjoining a first portion of the first sub-pixel electrode, an upper side adjoining a lower side of an upper second portion of the first sub-pixel electrode, and a lower side adjoining an upper side of a lower second portion of the first sub-pixel electrode, the first and second areas being connected by a plurality of connection electrodes, and at least one of the connection electrodes overlapping the second gate line.

    • A method and apparatus for manufacturing a polarizer for use in a large-sized liquid crystal display (LCD) with a size of 60 inches or more includes controlling the degree of stretching of a PVA film to have a width corresponding to a length of a long side of an LCD panel, cutting the stretched PVA film to fabricate PVA sheets, and attaching TAC films and protection films to each of the PVA sheets. Since the PVA film is fabricated into the PVA sheets, it is possible to fabricate a polarizer without changing the widths of the TAC films and protection films. Therefore, costs can be reduced that are associated with facility investment for manufacturing polarizers for LCDs having a size of 60 inches or more.

    • A color filter substrate includes a transparent substrate, a light-blocking layer, a color filter layer, a first cell gap maintaining member and a second cell gap maintaining member. The transparent substrate has a plurality of pixel regions. Each of the pixel regions includes first and second regions. The light-blocking layer is disposed over the transparent substrate. The light-blocking layer blocks light that leaks through boundaries of the pixel regions. The color filter layer is disposed over the transparent substrate. The color filter layer has a first thickness at the first region and a second thickness that is smaller than the first thickness at the second region. The first cell gap maintaining member is disposed at the first region. The second cell gap maintaining member is disposed at the second region. Therefore, a height difference between the main column spacer and the sub column spacer may be easily adjusted.
