    • An adjustable profile probe for insertion in a body cavity to sense a biological parameter includes an elongated shaft having a sensor panel and a resiliently expandable portion substantially opposing the sensor panel. An expansion mechanism is at least partially housed within the elongated shaft for varying the profile of the probe. The expansion mechanism includes a base plate adjacent to the resiliently expandable portion and a plurality of lever arms pivotally mounted to the base plate and the sensor panel. An actuating member pivotally connects to the lever arms such that upon movement of the actuating member, the resiliently expandable portion is selectively collapsed or expanded by the plurality of lever arms pivoting between a minimal profile position near parallel with the elongated shaft and an expanded profile position with the lever arms being near perpendicular to the elongated shaft.

    • A medical stent provides an active agent to a patient's body while simultaneously maintaining an open passageway within the body of the patient. The stent includes a first segment, a second segment, a connecting segment disposed between the first and second segments, and the active agent. The active agent may be a hemostatic agent that stops or controls bleeding by coagulation, or any other medical drug, such as, for example an antibiotic or an anticoagulant. When the stent is properly positioned within the patient's urinary system, the first segment is located on one side of the external sphincter and the second segment is located on the other side. The connecting segment is sized to extend through the external sphincter to couple the first and second segments together while not interfering with the normal operation of the external sphincter.

    • A delivery system for placement of a stent within a body of a patient includes a stent, a retaining structure, and an elongated member. The stent includes a coil which defines a lumen and has an initial length when in an expanded rest state. Adjacent turns of the coil are positioned to substantially prevent tissue ingrowth through the turns and into the lumen when the stent is placed within the body. The retaining structure is sized for insertion into the body and includes one or more pins. The pins collapse and deform the stent while the stent maintains substantially its initial length. The elongated member is coupled to the retaining structure and enables insertion of the retaining structure with the stent into the body such that the stent can be deployed from the retaining structure and placed into the body while maintaining substantially its initial length.

    • A connector-to-connector adaptor which permits the adaptation from one coctor interface to another connector interface without modification of electrical equipment interfaces. An adaptor shell has a plurality of contact shafts which replace the respective contacts of the dissimilar connectors to be joined. The adaptor shell is joined to one connector and the contact shafts are inserted first into the openings of one connector and then the other connector. Finally the adaptor shell is joined to the other connector. A pin is integrally connected to one end of the contact shaft and a socket contact with retention means is integrally connected to the other end.
