摘要： A surgical assembly is provided including a surgical passer having a wire portion coupled to a handle, with the wire portion having a free distal end, an outer periphery, and at least one recess therein in a distal end region. The assembly further includes a tube element having a proximal end, a tissue penetrating distal end, and a channel extending therein from an opening at the proximal end and defined by an inner periphery. The channel has at least one projection projecting outwardly into the channel in a distal end region thereof. The outer periphery of the surgical passer is dimensioned relative to the inner periphery of the channel of the tube element so that the surgical passer is positionable within the tube element, and when so positioned, the at least one tube element projection engages the at least one surgical passer recess to removably couple the surgical passer to the tube element.

摘要： A hypodermic syringe with a selectively retractable needle includes an elongate barrel having an open proximal end, an open distal end and a hollow bore. The syringe includes an elongate plunger including a hollow outer housing having an open proximal end and an open distal end. The plunger has a hollow inner sleeve defining a cavity therein. The plunger has releasable engagement elements preventing relative axial movement between the outer housing and the inner sleeve, the elements allowing the relative axial movement when released and a distal stopper. There is an open cutter mounted at a proximal end of the inner sleeve to cut through the stopper to expose the cavity in the inner sleeve when the engagement elements are released and sufficient distal axial force is applied to the plunger. The syringe has a hub housing with an open proximal end having an inwardly projecting shoulder, a hub with a proximal flange and an axial stem, sized to fit within the hub housing. There is a spring disposed about the stem between the flange and the shoulder. The syringe has a needle with a sharp point extending outwardly. The needle retracts into the cavity in the plunger when sufficient distal force is applied to the plunger to release the engagement elements. The release allows movement of the inner sleeve with respect to the outer housing so that the cutter cuts through the stopper and the flange and the spring urges movement of the needle into the cavity.

The cover is closed onto the cartridge to dispense the substance from the cartridge through the micro skin penetrating members and into or through the skin of the patient.

摘要： An instrument for controlling bleeding includes an outer shaft, an intermediate shaft telescopically received within a central lumen of the outer shaft, and an inner shaft telescopically received within a central lumen of the intermediate shaft, the inner shaft having a proximal end and a distal end that extends distally from the intermediate shaft. The instrument includes a hemostat disposed at the distal end of the inner shaft, and a fluid-resistant element connected to the distal end of the outer shaft and surrounding the hemostat. The fluid-resistant element has a breakable, fluid-resistant seal at a distal end thereof that protects the hemostat from fluids until the hemostat is delivered and deployed onto tissue. In one embodiment, the instrument includes an inflatable balloon to deploy and tamponade the hemostat.

摘要： An instrument for deploying hemostats has an intermediate shaft having a proximal end, a distal end, and a central lumen, and an inner shaft telescopically received within the central lumen of the intermediate shaft. The instrument includes an inflatable balloon, a first actuator for inflating the balloon, and a second actuator for moving the distal ends of the intermediate and inner shafts relative to one another for changing the shape of the inflated balloon. A proximal end of the balloon is secured to the distal end of the intermediate shaft and the distal end of the balloon is secured to the distal end of the inner shaft. The intermediate and inner shafts are moveable so that the inflated balloon has a toroidal shape and a flattened distal face. The inflated balloon has a major axis that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the intermediate shaft.

The system can include a vehicle response server and a vehicle response agent. The vehicle response server can manage communications between one or more vehicles and at least one application remotely located from the vehicles. The application can automatically execute at least one context-dependent programmatic action based upon an event occurrence triggered by vehicle sensor input. The vehicle response agent, which resides within the vehicle can receive an activation context that specifies conditions for the event occurrence. The vehicle response agent can then monitor the vehicle for the event occurrence and, when appropriate, wirelessly convey an indication of the event occurrence to the vehicle response server. The indication can result in the automatic execution of the at least one context-dependent programmatic action.

摘要： A surgical guide and its use in medical procedures such as to treat female urinary incontinence are provided. The guide preferably includes a stem portion having a proximal end and a distal end and a cross-sectional shape having a recess therein along its length and first and second extension portions extending outwardly from opposites sides of the distal end of the stem portion. Each of said first and second extension portions further include a stationary portion that is fixedly coupled to the stem portion and a movable portion that is movably coupled to the stationary portion. The movable portions are movable relative to the respective stationary portions between a first position wherein the stem portions extends beyond the extension portions by a first distance and a second position wherein the stem portion extends beyond the extension portions by a second distance that is greater than the first distance.
