    • A radial upblast exhaust fan apparatus including a main housing having a fan housing in the lower portion thereof and an upper housing thereabove. A passive zone is defined between two lateral sections of the upper housing such as to divide the air flow path into two sections. The passive zone section defines a first inner wall and a second inner wall which cooperate with a first outer wall and a second outer wall defined by the upper housing to provide a first exhaust flow path and a second exhaust flow path. These walls are shaped as sectors of conical sections preferably and include end walls to isolate the first exhaust flow path from fluid flow communication with respect to the second exhaust flow path. A fan means is positionable within the fan housing to urge exhaust gases to flow upwardly through the exhaust paths. The walls of the exhaust flow paths are generally arcuate to facilitate exhaust flow. A wind band may be secured to the upper end of the exhaust housing adjacent the exhaust openings therein in spaced relation to the outer wall of the upper housing by usage of a wind band bracket. In this manner mixing of exhaust gases with ambient air is greatly facilitated. The drive for the fan may be positioned pg,2 within the passive zone or externally with a belt drive device positioned within the band zone and connected operationally to the dirve being externally located.

    • A U-loop air handling apparatus adapted to receive air from a surrounding environment for conditioning and channeling thereof to return ducts. The conditioning includes cooling and filtration thereof such as to be specifically usable in high technology areas requiring extremely clean working conditions. The apparatus includes a fan operatively positioned between an intake section and an output section. The intake section includes a reducing section for receiving air and passing this air through a pre-filter and a cooling coil. Condensation is removed at the cooling coil and a cross sectional area of the channel of air travel is narrowed to a smaller diameter by the reducing section. A fan box receives the conditioned air from the reducing section where it is carried through an inlet box and bell member into the fan. The fan powers the air outwardly into an acoustical box which channels the air parallel and in an opposite direction with respect to the direction of movement of the air within the intake section. The acoustical box carries the air through a damper box to prevent back flow and outwardly through a transition box to return to the environment. The various air carrying members are internally lined with acoustical insulation to minimize transmission of sound and vibration outwardly into the environment resulting from air movement or from the operation of the fan. Also the fan itself is separated vibrationally and acoustically from a portion of the intake section and a portion of the output section by flexible connecting means of rubber-like material, preferably neoprene. Further isolation is provided by independent support means being provided for the fan box and for the reducing section and for the acoustical box.

    • A gaseous stream is freed of its particulate material in apparatus which includes a casing having an inlet opening, an outlet opening, and an impingement screen disposed across the inlet opening and comprising single or multiple, preferably staggered rows of impingement elements of V-shaped transverse profile positioned with the apex thereof facing the inlet opening. As the gaseous stream flows through the impingement screen, vortices are formed at the trailing edge of each element whereby droplets in the gaseous stream are entrained into the vortices, spin into a low pressure region which exists inside the open rear of the impingement element, and drain by gravity to collecting means. A series of radially extending vanes positioned downstream of the impingement screen impart swirl to the gaseous stream. A series of coaxial frustoconical rings are provided downstream of the vanes. Support means maintain the coaxial frustoconical rings in overlapping arrangement. The action of the vanes, of the coaxial rings and of the support means on the gaseous stream enhances particle removal.
