摘要： The invention relates to electrolyte salts for electrochemical devices of improved physical, chemical and electrochemical stability. The improvement resides in the use of anions of salts of the formula comprising: i) (B12FxZ12-x)2− wherein Z comprises at least one of H, Cl, Br or OR; R comprises at least one of H, alkyl or fluoroalkyl, or at least one polymer and x is at least 3 on an average basis but not more than 12; ii) ((R′R″R′″)NB12FxZ(11-x))−, wherein N is bonded to B and each of R′, R″, R′″ comprise a member independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl and a polymer; Z comprises H, Cl, Br, or OR, where R comprises H, alkyl or perfluoroalkyl or a polymer, and x is an integer from 0 to 11; or iii) (R″″CB11FxZ(11-x))−, wherein R″″ is bonded to C and comprises a member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, and a polymer, Z comprises H, Cl, Br, or OR, wherein R comprises H, alkyl or perfluoroalkyl or a polymer, and x is an integer from 0 to 11.

摘要： An elongated catheter device with a distal balloon assembly is adapted for endovascular insertion. Coolant injected through the device may, in different embodiments, directly cool tissue contacting the balloon, or may cool a separate internal chamber. In the first case, the coolant also inflates the balloon, and spent coolant is returned to the handle via a return passage extending through the body of the catheter. Plural balloons may be provided, wherein a secondary outer balloon surrounds a primary inner balloon, the primary balloon being filled with coolant and acting as the cooling chamber, the secondary balloon being coupled to a vacuum return lumen to serve as a robust leak containment device and thermal insulator around the cooling chamber. Various configurations, such as surface modification of the balloon interface, or placement of particles, coatings, or expandable meshes or coils in the balloon interface, may be employed to achieve this function.

摘要： A catheter includes a first expandable membrane having a first pressurization limit and a second expandable membrane, having a second pressurization limit, wherein the second pressurization limit is greater than the first pressurization limit, the first expandable membrane defines a cooling chamber, the second expandable membrane being disposed around the first expandable membrane to define an junction therebetween. The catheter includes a coolant injection lumen in fluid communication with the at least one fluid inlet port and the cooling chamber, and a primary coolant return lumen in fluid communication with the at least one fluid outlet port and the cooling chamber. The coolant injection tube, the cooling chamber, and the primary coolant return lumen define a first fluid pathway. The catheter further includes a secondary coolant return lumen in fluid communication with the at least one fluid outlet port and the junction. The junction and the secondary coolant return lumen define a second fluid pathway. The catheter provides a fail-safe feature by selecting the appropriate first and second pressurization limits for the first and second expandable membranes.

摘要： The present invention provides a medical device having an elongate body with both a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the elongate body defines an intake lumen and an exhaust lumen. The medical device also has a first pliable element defining a cooling chamber disposed at a point along the elongate body, with the cooling chamber being in fluid communication with the intake lumen and the exhaust lumen. A second pliable element is provided which at least partially encloses the first pliable element, thereby defining a junction between the first and second pliable element. Moreover, a check valve is included which is in fluid communication with the junction between the first pliable element and second pliable element, the valve further being in fluid communication with the exhaust lumen. In addition, the medical device may include sensors or other monitoring means in fluid communication with the junction and the cooling chamber.

摘要： A microdialysis probe arranged to have a primary probe, e.g., an electrical probe, secured to it so that the microdialysis probe extends about and is concentric with the primary probe to enable the combined microdialysis probe and the primary probe to be extended as a unit through a common opening into the body of a living being, whereupon the microdialysis probe can be used for selective sampling and/or administration of dialyzable compounds in biological fluids from living tissue within the body of the being and the primary probe can be used for some other function within the body of the being without appreciably injuring adjacent tissue. The microdialysis probe comprises a tube having a lumen therethrough for releasably mounting the primary probe, and at least one dialysis chamber. In one embodiment only a single annular dialysis chamber is provided with the lumen mounting the primary probe extending therethrough. In another embodiment two semi-annular dialysis chambers are provided adjacent each other with the lumen mounting the primary probe extending therethrough. In either case each dialysis chamber comprises a wall formed of a semi-permeable material, an inlet passageway to the chamber and an outlet passageway from the chamber.
