    • Elongated composite deck sections or panels are formed by pultruding a plastics resin material with multiple layers or mats of glass fibers and longitudinally extending unidirectional fibers to form a base wall integrally connecting upwardly projecting and longitudinally extending tubular ribs. Each rib has opposite side surfaces converging towards the base wall, and longitudinally extending ears project laterally outwardly from the side surfaces. The top surface of each panel is coated with epoxy adhesive, and the top surface of the base wall is also coated with an aggregate of crushed stone. The deck panels are assembled in laterally adjacent overlapping relation to form a permanent composite deck form. A mat of fiber reinforced composite rods are spaced above the deck panels which are surrounded by border forms, and concrete is poured onto the deck panels which positively bond with the concrete. Vertical steel studs are welded to steel frame members which support the composite deck panels and project upwardly into the concrete to tie the concrete to the frame members. Angle support strips are attached to center support beams to provide a bridge deck system with a crown.

    • An apparatus is disclosed for permitting or preventing a panel from closing an opening within a wall. A hinge secures the panel to the wall for pivoting the panel relative to the opening. The apparatus comprises an inverted generally u-shaped frame defining a slot for positioning to the panel. A bar member includes a first end and a second end. A fulcrum pivot is interposed between the first end and the second end for pivotably mounting the bar member to the inverted generally u-shaped frame. The fulcrum pivot pivots the bar member between a generally vertical position and a generally horizontal position. The bar member pivots to the generally vertical position for disengaging the second end from the wall for permitting the panel to close the opening of the wall. The bar member pivots into the generally horizontal position for engaging the stopper end with the wall for preventing the panel from closing the opening of the wall.

    • The invention relates to a resealable or a single use cell culture assembly for use in growing, storing and transporting, cell and tissue cultures. The assembly includes a support frame for receiving a base member insert having an upper surface, such as a microscope slide, and a well frame, preferably partitioned into a plurality of well compartments having sidewalls with upper and lower surfaces, upper and lower edges, and upper and lower well openings. The well frame is adapted to be operatively positioned on the upper surface of the base member, and includes a sealing means positioned on or within the lower edge of the well frame. The sealing means is adapted to operatively create a liquid-impermeable releasable seal or barrier when the lower surface of the well frame is positioned on the upper surface of the base member, such that the sealing means is releasably positioned on the upper surface of the base member for maintaining a liquid-impermeable barrier between well compartments. The assembly may include a cover or lid positioned over the upper opening of the well frame. When the assembly is in a closed position, the well frame can be secured to the support frame by a variety of closure means.

    • A multi-user system for creating and maintaining a knowledge base is implemented on a variety of computer systems, including single-user personal computers, networked personal computers, and data communications networks, including the Internet. The system has a graphic user interface which can be easily learned by non-programmers. The knowledge base is displayed as a hierarchical multiplicity of nodes, in which each node is related to one or more superior nodes. Title of text, rules, references, and attributes associated with each node are displayed, and may be modified. Simulation is used to verify the knowledge base once generated. Data may be extracted from the bases in the form of hard-copy books, databases for downloading into Web browsers, and databases for downloading into hand-held computers including a multiplicity of grids, and a multiplicity of branches in the form of a logic tree. The user may choose one of the alternative display formats, and the hierarchy can be displayed in either collapsed view or expanded view. Interference between two or more users accessing the system concurrently is prevented by a locking and authorization subsystem, which also prevents unauthorized access to the environment. The system provides an organization of workflow into a multiplicity of development stages. Each such stage has associated with it an authorization level, developers working on the system concurrently are limited by these levels to access only particular stages and levels of development.

    • A method for operating a digital computer to globally route interconnects between terminals of a gate array. A first terminal closest to an average position of terminals to be interconnected is identified. A second terminal closest to the first terminal is then identified, and a first path between the first and second terminals is established along possible paths. An edge of the first path is set as a routing path if predetermined conditions are met. A closest remaining terminal to an established path is next identified, and a shortest path between the closest terminal and the established path to which it was closest is established. Edges of the shortest path and/or the established path to which it was closest are set as routing paths, if predetermined conditions are met. The above steps are then repeated for remaining terminals to be interconnected. Any possible paths within established paths with no set edges can then be set as routing paths.
