A transimpedance amplifier generates an amplified voltage signal corresponding to the photocurrent generated by the optical detector. An offset voltage generator generates an offset voltage that biases the voltage signal generated by the transimpedance amplifier. A switch having a first input electrically connected to the output of the transimpedance amplifier and a second input electrically connected to the output of the offset voltage generator switches between the offset voltage and the voltage signal generated by the transimpedance amplifier.

One embodiment comprises a system for providing SMS-sponsored WAP advertisements. One such system comprises a short messaging service (SMS) application server and a web server. The SMS application server is configured to send a short message service (SMS) message to a mobile terminal that has an embedded link to a wireless access protocol (WAP) site. The embedded link includes a predetermined parameter identifying an advertiser associated with the SMS message. The web server is configured to receive a request for the WAP site. If the request includes the predetermined parameter, it is determined that the request originated from the SMS message and the WAP site is provided to the mobile terminal with an advertisement associated with the advertiser.

A circumferential array of expansion feet are movably attached to the top surface of the base. A disk-shaped wedge is disposed in sliding engagement with the expansion feet. A cover supports a portion of the component and seals against the component to create an enclosed plenum. The same fixture may be used to expand the component to compensate for shrinkage after the weld is compete.

A surface of the component such as the backing surface of a honeycomb component after honeycomb removal is roughened and cleaned. A selected build-up material is deposited onto the substrate by high velocity oxy-fuel deposition or low pressure plasma spray. The component is heat treated to enhance the bond between the deposited material particles, and between the deposited material and the substrate by diffusion.

A sample to be tested is mounted on a cassette and inserted into a housing which is substantially impervious to light, and light from a source within the housing is directed toward the sample to induce fluorescent emission from analyte on the sample. Fluorescent emissions from the sample are monitored with a detector within the housing to detect emissions having a spectral content characteristic of the analyte to be detected. Data from the detector is processed, and information based on the processed data is displayed. In some embodiments, the instrument is calibrated with data from a reference sample of known concentration or density. The detector measures the analyte in units of mass per unit area, and in some embodiments the mass per unit area is converted to units of concentration or density of the analyte in the sample.
