    • An automatic rifle bolt carrier with a fluted boss for the AR15/M16 family of firearms has been provided. The rear of the bolt carrier has been provided with a boss having bearing surfaces which are in operational contact with the interior of the host firearm's upper receiver to prevent the carrier from tilting while it is reciprocating during normal operation. The boss and rearward end of the bolt carrier are provided with flutes which allow water to flow between the buffer tube and upper receiver while the bolt carrier is reciprocating during normal operation, enabling a properly equipped firearm to be used during over the beach operations. The bolt carrier also includes a scallop cut located about the top of its backmost end which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the bolt carrier.

    • The invention relates to shape memory alloys. In particular, the invention relates to a shape memory alloy arrangement that includes a shape memory alloy member that is configured to undergo transformation between marten site and austenite phases in response to a change in temperature of the shape memory alloy member. The arrangement also includes a heat conductive material in contact with the shape memory alloy member wherein the heat conductive material is operable for controlling the transfer of heat to or from the shape memory alloy member by conduction. The invention also relates to a shape memory alloy actuator including the shape memory alloy arrangement of the invention. The shape memory alloy arrangement is configured to be connected to a movable object and to move the object in response to a change in temperature of the shape memory alloy member.

    • Apparatus and methods enhancing radio programming include receiving a broadcast radio transmission at a communication device. The broadcast radio transmission includes primary content and supplemental content having a relationship to the primary content. Further, the primary content includes a first audio data, while the supplemental content includes audio data. Additionally, the apparatus and methods include converting the supplemental content into converted supplemental content, maintaining the relationship to the primary content. Moreover, the converted supplemental content includes second audio data converted from the non-audio data. Thus, the described apparatus and methods allow the communication device to output signals for generating audible representations of both the primary content and the supplemental content.
