    • Devices, systems and methods for positioning a cursor on a display device are provided. For example, an input device is provided which includes a stepper device configured to electrically communicate with a computer. The stepper device incorporates a stepper-enable switch configured to prevent movement information provided by a mouse-type input device from influencing movement of a cursor on a display device and to enable functional information, provided by the mouse-type input device, to provide selected functionality of the cursor. A plurality of cursor repositioning keys also are provided and are configured to reposition the cursor when movement information provided by the mouse-type input device is prevented from influencing movement of the cursor on the display device.

    • A system and method of adjusting the logic synthesis process of the design of an integrated circuit takes into account the interaction between the IC core logic circuitry, the on-chip power supply circuitry, and the package power supply circuitry. In IC package/circuit technology combinations that have been employed in previous IC designs, the associated package and on-chip power supply circuit designs are stable and well-defined, thus allowing the generating of simulation models for those power supply circuits. Those models are used to identify resonant frequencies and other characteristics of the power supply circuitry. By using the identity of the power supply resonant frequencies and the power supply models themselves, design constraints are developed that are supplied as input, either directly or indirectly, to the logic synthesis process to avoid incompatibilities of a periodic and non-periodic nature between the IC core logic and the power supply circuitry.

    • A method and apparatus for creating a variable frequency-oscillating signal on a semiconductor device. The frequency of a ring oscillator is varied by inserting or removing additional delay into the ring. The frequency of the oscillating signal is periodically compared to an encoded input signal indicating the desired frequency. The comparison result modifies the desired frequency by modifying the amount of delay in the ring oscillator. In an alternate embodiment, an input reference clock is converted to an encoded representation of the input reference clock's current frequency. This resultant encoded representation is compared to the encoded representation of the variable frequency-oscillating signal to determine whether the delay in the ring oscillator should be modified so the frequency of the variable oscillating signal matches the frequency of the input reference clock.

    • Devices, systems and methods for position-locking a cursor on a display device are provided. A preferred input device includes a position-locking device configured to electrically communicate with a computer. The position-locking device incorporates a lock-enable switch which, when activated, locks a position of the cursor on the display device of the computer while enabling functional information, provided by the mouse-type input device of the computer, to provide selected functionality of the cursor. Additionally, when disabled, the position-locking device unlocks the position of the cursor so that the cursor is movable about the display area in response to the movement information provided by the mouse-type device.

    • A method and apparatus for modifying a frequency of an oscillating signal comprises generating an oscillating signal of a predetermined frequency on a semiconductor device used as an evaluation test chip by connecting a predetermine number of circuit elements in a ring oscillator configuration. A delay element operably coupled into the ring oscillator configuration modifies the predetermined frequency of the ring oscillator configuration. The operable coupling may occur on a semiconductor package containing the semiconductor device or a circuit board containing the semiconductor device. A ring oscillator is also described.
