    • An apparatus and method for on site pouring of pre-stressed concrete structures. A form, having elongated sides spanned by first and second bulkheads at each end, is assembled on a building site. The form defines the size and configuration of a structure, and has an upper edge determining the upper surface of the structure. A transportable cable pre-stressing frame is provided, having a first end and a second end with respective outrigger assemblies and at least one pre-stressed cable extending therebetween. Adjustable means are provided for positioning and maintaining the frame over and generally in longitudinal alignment with the form, the pre-stressed cable lying below the form's upper edge. Concrete is poured into the form, covering the cable. After curing is complete, the portions of the cable extending outside the concrete structure are cut, releasing the tension on the cable and transferring it to the concrete.

    • A compressed air valve circuit actuated assembly for operating a rotary tool turret of a lathe is disclosed which includes an actuator movably disposed in a housing and fixedly connected through an opening to the turret. The actuator moves linearly between a recessed position, wherein a first actuator attached ring of spaced apart teeth is closely intermeshed with a second housing attached ring of identical teeth, and an advanced position wherein the rings are decoupled to permit turret and actuator rotation. A series of compressed coil springs confined between the actuator and housing biases the actuator toward the recessed position. Compressed air supplied from the circuit to a housing chamber moves the actuator to the advanced position in opposition to the springs. A cross-piston, disposed in a bore formed in a housing surface portion and movable between start and ending positions, is coupled by an indexing pin to a slot in the actuator only when the actuator is in the advanced position. The circuit actuates the cross-piston to move and, simultaneously, cause the pin to rotate the actuator through a predetermined angle while the actuator is advanced, whereafter, the circuit switches to permit the springs to return the actuator to the recessed position to decouple the pin from the slot. The circuit then return operates to return the cross-piston to the start position to complete an assembly operating cycle.

    • A pressure-activated pump-off control for intermitting the operation of a low-production well. A pressure sensor and a series of three timers control the operation of the pump to maximize efficiency. A first fill-in timer disables the pump for a first time period during which fluids accumulate in the well. When the fill-in timer times out, both a second pump-up timer and the pump motor are energized. If the pressure sensor determines adequate minimum fluid pressure in the tubing, the pressure switch is opened, the second timer is de-energized, and control of the pump being transferred to a third pump-up timer in conjunction with the pressure sensor. When the pressure falls below the desired minimum, the pressure switch will remain closed and after a predetermined period of time corresponding to a desired number of strokes, the pump-off timer times out, shuts off the pump and re-energizes the fill-in timer for another cycle.

    • A hydraulic brake actuator for a wedge type brake includes a tubular structure extending from the brake and housing an extended end of a stem of the wedge of the brake therein. A primary cylinder is mounted on the tubular structure and includes a primary piston mounted for sealed movement therein. The piston has a rod extending from one side thereof into the tubular structure to be operably connected to the extended end of the stem. A spring acts on a second side of the piston and is capable of moving the piston toward a first position within the cylinder for actuation of the brake. Hydraulic fluid can be selectively introduced to the primary cylinder at the first side of the piston to cause movement thereof in opposition to the spring to a second position to prevent actuation of the brake by the spring. An annular space between an interior surface of the tubular structure and an exterior surface of the rod is sealed to prevent the hydraulic fluid from escaping from the cylinder. The sealing includes a floating seal carrier surrounding the rod and supporting a seal which extends inwardly to make sealing contact with the exterior of the rod and a mechanical face seal at the end of the floating seal carrier to prevent the escape of hydraulic fluid behind the floating seal carrier.
