    • A cardiorespiratory fitness optimizer apparatus includes a mouthpiece and a valve assembly. The mouthpiece includes lower and upper tooth beds and an anterior manifold. The manifold terminates anteriorly at a centralized valve assembly interface and includes at least one air-letting aperture. The valve assembly is matable with the centralized valve assembly interface and includes an adjustable aperture. The user is able to adjust the aperture for increasing and decreasing airflow resistance therethrough for optimizing cardiorespiratory fitness. The cardiorespiratory fitness optimizer apparatus may include at least one sensor for sensing airflow activity within the valve assembly and communicating data relating to the airflow activity to an external device for displaying human readable output relating to the airflow activity upon the external device. The valve assembly is removable from the mouthpiece and replaceable with a plug element for maintaining anterior formations of the mouthpiece when the valve assembly is removed.

    • A drive axle system of the type useable in a 6 .times. 6 vehicle, especially one utilizing a tandem axle assembly to transmit torque from the vehicle transmission to first and second rear drive axles. The system comprises torque dividing means within the tandem axle assembly and first and second torque transmitting means, such as the side gears of a differential. A first gear means transmits torque from the first differential side gear to the first rear drive axle and a second gear means transmits torque between the second differential side gear and the second rear drive axle. A third gear means is in engagement with the first gear means and may be clutched to a drive shaft to transmit torque directly from the tandem axle assembly to the front drive-steer axle, thus eliminating the need for a transfer case.

    • An automatic edge sewing system and method for sewing together the edge of a plurality of parts in which the parts to be sewn are clamped together in a sewing machine having a reciprocating needle; the parts are mounted for rotation about a first rotational axis through the pans and for linear translation along a linear axis between the first rotational axis and the axis of the needle. The pans are steered about a second rotational axis parallel to the needle axis for adjusting the angular position of the linear axis about the needle axis. The parts are fed through the needle axis and the position of the edge of the parts proximate the needle axis is sensed; the steering and the feeding of the parts through the needle axis is controlled in response to the sensing of the edge position while the pans passively float about the first rotational axis and along the linear axis to enable the parts to be sewn accurately, automatically proximate the edges.
