摘要： A wafer for synthesizing biopolymers which includes a solid phase support material, a reaction chamber which receives and retains the support material and at least one inert porous material which allows flow through the wafer. Also included is a segmented wafer synthesis device comprising at least one, and preferably numerous, wafers for the simultaneous synthesis of multiple defined-sequenced biopolymers. Further there are process steps for synthesizing a variety of biopolymers. Synthetic polynucleotides have played a key role in studies of genetic organization through their use as primers for DNA sequencing and as hybridization probes, linkers and adapters in the cloning of genes.

摘要： A replaceable, prefilled electrode enclosed in a plastic seal and suitably adapted for attachment to a reusable, washable cap having snaps thereon is disclosed. The apparatus is particularly adapted for quick positioning of electrodes to obtain an EEG. The individual electrodes are formed of a sponge body which is filled with a conductive electrolyte gel during manufacture. The sponge body is adjacent to a base formed of a conductive plastic material. The base has at its center a male gripper snap. The cap locates the female snap to enable the electrode to be positioned. The electrode can be stored and used quickly by attaching to the female gripper snap. The snap is correctly positioned and located by mounting it in a stretchable cap. The cap is reusable with new electrodes for each use. The electrolyte gel serves as the contact electrode to achieve a good ohmic contact with the scalp.

摘要： Improved inflatable grasping or picking fingers forming articlegrasping elements for handling various articles, such as in the picking of fruit from trees or transferring fruit or food from one conveyor to another or depositing the same within containers, each finger having a rigid support or ''''bone'''' and tie means for limiting the radial distention of the finger from the support when it is inflated. In one form of the invention, the outer covering of the finger is connected to the central support by flexible threads or strands. In another form, the outer covering is connected to the central support by a web of sheet fabric disposed transversely or longitudinally of the support. In still another form, the outer contour of the finger is defined by the free portions of a plurality of sections or chambers of flexible material. In one form the sections are partitioned longitudinally of the central support with provision for individually selectively inflating the sections. In another form, the sections are substantially coextensive with and disposed circumferentially about the central support with the longitudinal axes of the sections generally parallel thereto, including means for selectively inflating any or all of the sections; whereby some of the articles being grasped may be dropped while a holding grip is retained on others. In still another form, the sections are partitioned both longitudinally and circumferentially of the central support.
