    • A method and apparatus for the removing solvents from coated materials while capturing evaporated vapors in a confined space and maintaining non-explosive conditions within the space. Microwave energy may be applied to a coated material as the coated material passes through a cavity configured to produce an electromagnetic resonance mode. The application of microwaves to the coated material causes rapid evaporation of the solvents. The cavity is also configured to confine the evaporated vapors in a small volume and control the inflow of air into the volume so as to produce an effluent waste stream which includes a relatively high concentration of solvent molecules while maintaining a non-explosive atmosphere within the cavity. The method and apparatus are particularly suited for treating coated web materials, especially continuous webs.

    • The Christmas tree stand of this invention includes an annular ring base supporting a central upright post having a tree trunk set pin at its bottom end and a transverse opening adjacent its top end for receiving the screw thread end of a screw crank for threading into the side of a tree trunk. The screw crank extends from the screw thread end to an intermediate angular bend which includes an arcuate portion providing an impact anvil aligned with the screw thread for striking by a hammer to set the screw thread into the side of a tree trunk. The screw crank is secured releasably to the ring base for storage, by a socket member secured to the ring base for receiving the screw thread end and by an angular clip member secured to the ring base to capture an intermediate portion of the screw crank.

    • An upwardly extending post is welded at its lower end to a base ring and is inclined for holding a depending bar at an inner portion of the ring. The depending bar has a bottom horizontal foot plate that extends integrally therefrom. This foot plate carries a reinforcing wedge plate and a set pin. In attaching a tree to the holder, the wedge plate engages the tree trunk radially and the set pin engages the tree trunk at the bottom in laterally spaced relation from the wedge plate, thus providing a two point engagement that prevents twisting of the tree in the holder. A single cinching crank screw is mounted in an upper portion of the depending bar for penetrating the tree and pulling the tree tightly against the depending bar.

    • A marine radar has a screen on which is displayed a radar image and several representations of the different control functions of the radar such as range, gain and sea clutter setting. The radar also has a key pad with three keys and a tracker ball that is connected to the radar control unit. The control unit generates a marker on the screen that is movable by the tracker ball. To change one of the control functions, the tracker ball is displaced until the marker moves into the region of the representation of the appropriate control function. The control unit then produces three boxes on the screen below the control function to indicate the different options available for that function. The user can select the desired option by pressing the appropriate one of the three keys.
