    • There is provided a method for obtaining a target organic compound such as an alkyladamantyl ester efficiently by purifying a crude organic compound which contains, as impurities, sublimable materials which start to sublime at temperatures lower than a boiling point of the target organic compound by use of such a simple method as distillation during its production process, without being adversely affected by adherence of the sublimable materials.The distillation is carried out in the presence of a compound having a boiling point which is lower than a boiling point of the target organic compound, e.g., a carbonyl-group-containing compound. For example, 2-methyl-2-adamantyl methacrylate (boiling point: 92° C./0.3 mmHg) containing sublimable impurities such as adamantane (sublimation starting temperature: room temperature or lower) is distilled in the presence of 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone (boiling point: 225° C.).

    • Proposed is a flame-retardant heat-curable flowable epoxy resin composition suitable for use in case potting of film capacitors exhibiting very little settling of the particulate ingredients in storage and excellent impregnability in case potting as well as excellent flame retardancy, moisture resistance and tracking resistance of the composition after curing. The composition comprises, as a uniform blend:(a) 100 parts by weight of a bisphenol-based epoxy resin which is liquid at a temperature of working in case potting;(b) from 10 to 40 parts by weight of an alkyleneglycol diglycidyl ether or cycloalkyleneglycol diglycidyl ether;(c) from 80 to 120 parts by weight of a polycarboxylic acid anhydride;(d) from 4 to 20 parts by weight of a powder of red phosphorus; and(e) from 100 to 200 parts by weight of a powder of hydrated alumina which characteristically is a combination of (e1) from 80 to 95% by weight of a first powder of hydrated alumina having an average particle diameter in the range from 10 to 25 .mu.m and (e2) from 20 to 5% by weight of a second powder of hydrated alumina having an average particle diameter not exceeding 2 .mu.m.

    • The electric charged particle beam microscope includes an electric charged particle source; a condenser lens converging electric charged particles emitted from the electric charged particle source on a specimen; a deflector scanning the converged electric charged particles over the specimen; a control unit of the deflector; a specimen stage on which the specimen is mounted; a detector detecting the electric charged particles; a computer forming an image from a control signal from the deflector and an output signal from the detector; and a display part connected with the computer. The control unit of the deflector can change the scan rate of the electric charged particles. A first rate scan image is obtained at a first rate and a second rate scan image is obtained at a second rate slower than the first rate.

    • The present invention relates to the acquisition of tilted series images of a minute sample in a short time.The present invention relates to: measuring in advance the relation between an amount of focus shift and a degree of coincidence at the time of acquiring tilted series images; calculating backwards a focus shift from the degree of coincidence on the basis of this relation; correcting the focus shift by controlling a stage, an objective lens, and the like; and thus acquiring the tilted series images. In addition, the present invention relates to: acquiring a reference image in advance at the time of photographing the tilted series images; obtaining the correlation between an acquired image and the reference image; and performing, if the degree of coincidence is equal to or smaller than a set value, processing such as the transmission of a warning message and the stop of an image acquisition sequence. According to the present invention, it becomes possible to perform focusing at the time of photographing the tilted series images at high speed, so that the length of time for photographing the tilted series images can be shortened. In addition, an image inappropriate for three-dimensional reconstruction can be removed. This makes it possible to enhance the throughput of failure analysis of a semiconductor and an advanced material.
