    • An optical element positioning apparatus capable of moving an optical element from a storage state to a use state and improving the accuracy of positioning the optical element to a use position on an optical path. A holding member that holds the optical element is guided by guide shafts to be movable between the storage state and the use state. The holding member is provided with guide-supporting and receiving portions through which the guide shafts are slidably inserted. The guide shafts are supported by holding portions. A degree of freedom in positioning the holding member at the use position is provided. Holding-member positioning parts of the guide-supporting and receiving portions are pressed by an urging device against ends of the holding portions, whereby the holding member is positioned and held at the use position.

    • In the invention, it is possible to hear a voice and music of a portable audio device such as a portable telephone, an MD player, etc. in a hand free state without mounting an additional amplifier kind. Therefore, a plug transmitter is plugged into a cigar lighter socket arranged in a console portion or an arm of a side door. An external output terminal of a portable audio device such as an MD player is connected to the plug transmitter by an audio cable. A transmitting circuit is built in the plug transmitter, and receives electric power from the cigar lighter socket, and transmits an audio output from the portable audio device as a radio wave in a receiving frequency band of an AM radio mounted to an automobile. Thus, it is possible to enjoy music from a speaker within the automobile. If a portable telephone is connected to the plug transmitter, a talk can be carried out in a hand free state.

    • An apparatus for indicating the quantity of fuel in a vehicle. A variable resistance device, consisting of a bar resistor having its ends short-circuited and a slide, provided with a float, mounted on a guide bar, converts changes in fuel quantity into changes in electrical resistance which are indicated by a fuel gauge. The variable resistance device has a non-linear change in resistance with the maximum resistance when the slide is positioned at the middle part of the resistor. The pointer of the fuel gauge moves in one direction and then reverses direction in response to the non-linear resistance change, with the one-half tank level being the turning point. A lamp in the fuel gauge is actuated by a detection switch when the one-half tank level is reached so that the lamp indicates to the vehicle operator that the gauge is measuring the remaining one-half of the fuel.
