    • A heating or cooling pad device, particularly for use in surgical operations and medical procedures, which has a human shaped pad for receiving a lying body. The heating or cooling pad can be formed from a chemical reaction pack to generate heat or cold. Alternatively, the pad may consist of an inflatable structure which conducts thermally controlled pressurized fluid or gas from an inlet port through a series of interacting channels. A plurality of holes across the patient-facing surfaces of the pad and patient-wrapping flaps facilitate escape of pressurized gases. For fluids, a corresponding outlet port is provided. For electrical elements, a power source is connected. The pad might also have a concave curvature on its surface to thereby cradle a patient when inflated. A stiffener might be adhered to the lower surface of the pad. The pad includes a series of hook and pile attachment strips for selectively attaching modular sections of insulated material which can then be used to wrap around and secure the patient lying on the pad. A single piece section of insulated material might also be used underneath the pad, with the section having flaps which extend around to secure and insulate the patient. Additionally, separate torso and headpiece sections of insulated material can be used to facilitate selective access to various parts of the patient, and yet optimize thermal energy conversation in and around the patient.

    • An endotracheal tube holding device for holding a tube inserted into a patient's mouth and into the trachea. The tube is held in position by the device which has been adhesively secured to the patient's face by a foam strip with an adhesive backing to comfortably, yet securely attach the holding device. The strip is arcuate-shaped and positioned along the upper lip and attached on each end to the patient's cheeks. A support fixture with a lipped support tab extends therefrom and is attached to the foam strip. An adhesive tape strip extends from each side of the support tab and wraps around the positioned ETT. The lip prevents the tape strip from slipping off the support tab thereby providing a secure attachment of the ETT to the support fixture. An accessory port may be included in the support holder to allow for insertion of items above or below the ETT tube without removal of the device from the patient's face.

    • A respiratory valve apparatus with a housing having an inner chamber, an endotracheal tube connection port, a respirator connection port and a resuscitation bag connection port. A valve positioned within the inner chamber can switch the flow between a manual resuscitation bag port and a ventilator port enabling the patient to be treated without having to disconnect the respirator support system to thereby connect the resuscitation bag. This prevents the loss of positive end expiratory pressure (PEEP) in the lungs and guards against lung collapse and hemodynamic compromise. The valve includes preloaded seals that will create minimal dragging during valve actuation and work under both positive and negative pressure. The apparatus includes a tethered cover for closure of the resuscitation bag port for sealably covering the port when a bag is not attached or the ventilator connector during patient transport. A sealing arrangement within the resuscitator bag port insures that PEEP in maintained when the resuscitator bag adapter is inserted into the housing.

The housing has an inner chamber. A reciprocating valve assembly fits within a chamber and slides between two positions whereby the entry, endotracheal, and respirator ports are open in one position, and the entry, endotracheal, and resuscitation ports are open in the second position. The valve assembly is a component of a surgical kit including a resuscitation bag, an endotracheal tube, and a suction catheter. A guide fixture can be attached to the entry port to help steer a catheter through the apparatus. An elongated protective bag can be sealably attached around the catheter to prevent external contact with the catheter surfaces when it is withdrawn.

    • A nasal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and nasal cannula device, e.g. NCC device, with modular components and a mean airway pressure (MAP) measurement port. The NCC device includes a comfortable foam securement strip which adhesively attaches to the upper lip of an individual. The securement strip includes adhesive tape strips extending therefrom with removable backings for attaching the NCC device to the individual's face with the nasal prongs sealably positioned in the nose. The MAP measurement port can be located near the nasal prongs for accurate pressure readings or further away for convenience in reading the pressure. Extensions or tapping fixtures can also be used to provide a MAP measurement port at a convenient location away from the face. The NCC device could be used with modular connections including, for instance, ventilator circuit attachments and/or cannula flow-meter attachments.
