摘要： A medical system includes an inner core and an imager located at the distal end of the inner core, wherein the imager is extendable from within an elongated tubular member and configured to penetrate a body tissue within a living body. The elongated tubular member is configured to slideably receive the inner core. The inner core is configured to rotate radially around a longitudinal axis of the elongated member, and the imager can be configured to image a body tissue and output an image signal to an imaging system communicatively coupled with the imager. The imaging system is configured to generate an image of the body tissue from the image signal of the imager when the imager is rotated and placed into contact with the body tissue.

The device comprises an elongated member with proximal and distal ends, an inner radially expandable body surrounding the distal end of the elongated member, a stent surrounding the inner body, and an outer radially expandable body surrounding the stent. Optionally, the medical device further comprises a haemostatic coating surrounding the outer body. A method for treating tissue is also provided. The method comprises placing an elongated device into the tissue to create a path, radially expanding the device against the tissue to radially displace the tissue along the path, radially reinforcing the device against the tissue, and introducing a medical element through the device to perform a medical procedure on the tissue that can be image guided.

摘要： A method of treating an intervertebral disc is provided. The method comprises introducing a probe with an electrode into contact with the nucleus pulposus of the disc, and conveying radio frequency ablation energy from the electrode into the nucleus pulposus of the disc. For example, if the disc has a herniated region, the electrode can be placed into contact with the nucleus pulposus within the herniated region (e.g., by steering the electrode), and the ablation energy can be conveyed directly into the herniated region. The electrode can also be placed into contact near the center region of the disc, in which case, the ablation energy can be conveyed into the center region. In any event, tissue is removed, which may decompress the disc or provide some other therapeutic result. The method further comprises circulating a cooling medium through the probe in thermal contact with the electrode. By cooling the electrode, tissue is more efficiently ablated from the disc.

The probe comprises an elongated member, a window laterally formed on the distal end of the member, a drive shaft rotatably disposed within the lumen of the member, and a rotatable and longitudinally slidable tissue removal element disposed on the drive shaft. The probe can be used to remove tissue along the window of the probe. In one method, target tissue along the window, e.g., bone tissue, can be removed without removing non-target tissue, e.g., nerve tissue, by rotating and longitudinally sliding the tissue removal element relative to the window.
