The product is prepared by combining raw meat, usually frozen, which is blended and emulsified, followed by the addition of dehydrated vegetables. The resulting mixture is stuffed into a casing, and the encased mixture smoked and heated in a carefully moisture controlled environment. The casing is then removed and the sausage-like product linked or cut into convenient sizes. The resulting sticks are then packaged in containers containing water or a meat stock broth.

摘要： A system for use in depalletizing glass jars disposed in groups in a vertical stack wherein the groups of jars are successively moved laterally off the top of the stack and onto a lateral conveyor. The jars are supported on flat panels and a sensor is provided to sense the uppermost panel and to control the elevation of the stack, whereby the elevation will stop when the upper group of jars is aligned with the conveyor. Means is provided to push the jars away from alignment with the sensor so that it will engage the uppermost jar-supporting panel rather than the jars themselves. Means is also provided to push the upper panel laterally to assure that it will be in position to engage the sensor.

摘要： Apparatus for unloading a retort crate having stacked, vertically shiftable layers of individual articles, such as glass jars or the like, wherein a convex article-engaging bail is shiftably mounted adjacent to a table top having a circular opening therethrough. The bail moves horizontally over the table to sweep the uppermost layer of articles of the retort crate laterally of the opening and onto a supporting surface adjacent thereto. The bail has substantially the same curvature as at least part of the outer boundary of the opening and, as the bail sweeps the uppermost articles off the crate, it moves into a location at which it positions a number of the articles in partially surrounding relationship to the opening. Thus, these last mentioned articles define abutments which serve to stabilize and prevent toppling of certain of the articles of the next layer to be swept off the stack.

摘要： Grain steaming apparatus comprising a tower having three sections, an upper section, a central section, and a lower section. The grain to be steamed is introduced into the top of the upper section, and steam is communicated into the interior thereof via a pair of steam manifolds. The lower section of the tower comprises a baffle arrangement adapted to control the flow of wheat in the tower while preventing channeling of the grain, to achieve uniform grain flow across the cross section of the tower. The baffle arrangement may preferably be formed by a plurality of perpendicularly disposed plates forming a grid work of substantially square, tapering passages. In this manner, the resistance encountered by the grain from the lower constriction of the tower will be distributed substantially uniformly across the cross section of the tower.

摘要： A machine for unloading retort crates of the type wherein successive stacked layers of containers can be exposed above the crate sidewalls for unloading by elevating the false bottom of the crate with respect to its sides. A bail mounted to the machine sweeps elevated and exposed layers of containers off the crate and onto an adjoining, moving conveyor. The bail in sweeping provides the containers with a substantially uniform acceleration to the conveyor speed to minimize the possibility of tipping the individual food containers in their transfer from the retort crate to the conveyor. The containers are free floating in their movement with respect to the bail so as to minimize the tendency of the individual containers to be broken or damaged during sweeping and to permit the containers during movement of the bail to frictionally orient themselves into a compacted mass. Provision is made to drive the bail by direct coupling to a single hydraulic cylinder.
