    • A rolling bearing includes rolling elements (3) interposed between rolling surfaces (1a, 2a) of an inner ring (1) and an outer ring (2). An oil supply hole (2c) for lubricant oil supply is provided in the outer ring (2) so as to communicate between an outer diameter surface (2d) of the outer ring (2) and a position, near the rolling surface, in an inner peripheral surface (2g) of the outer ring (2d). A circumferential groove (2b) is provided on the outer diameter surface (2d) of the outer ring (2) so as to communicate with the oil supply hole (2c) to introduce, to the oil supply hole (2c), a lubricant oil supplied from a circumferential position outside the bearing that is different from that of the oil supply hole (2c).

    • Cam follower includes a cantilevered stud, and a bearing unit mounted on a head portion of the stud and having rollers and an outer ring. The outer peripheral surface of the outer ring constitutes a cam-driven surface. The cam-driven surface includes a central load-bearing region substantially parallel to the axis of the cantilevered stud, and a couple of load-reducing bearing regions indented radially inward from the central load-bearing region and located on opposite sides of the central load-bearing region axially symmetrically to each other. Mechanical stress acting on the inner surface of the outer ring, outer surface of the roller and outer surface of the stud's head portion presents a maximum intensity level at their respective points corresponding to a point of the outer ring which is subjected to maximum mechanical contact stress from a cam. However, by the provision of the load-reducing bearing regions, the stress on the inner surface of the outer ring, outer surface of the roller and outer surface of the stud's head portion can be made smaller than that applied from the cam to the cam-driven surface, and the stress acting on the roller can be effectively leveled off.

    • There is provided a lubricating method for a rolling bearing assembly capable of achieving a reliable lubrication and exhibiting a stable temperature rise. The method is for supplying a lubricant oil to the rolling bearing assembly during the operation thereof, in which in order to keep the temperature of a rolling bearing assembly (103) within a predetermined tolerance, the amount of the lubricant oil to be supplied during the operation is automatically or manually adjusted by means of a supply adjusting unit (102). Supply of the lubricant oil is performed in the form of an air/oil mixture by the use of a lubricant supply unit (101). The amount of the lubricant oil supplied varies depending on the rotational speed of the rolling bearing assembly (103). Change of the amount of the lubricant oil supplied depending on the rotational speed of the rolling bearing assembly (103) is carried out based on a result of sampling of data showing increase in temperature of the rolling bearing assembly (103) depending on the rotational speed thereof under a plurality of different lubricating conditions in which a different amount of the lubricant oil to be supplied is employed.
