    • A machine tool comprises a spindle stock and a worktable having an upper surface thereon for mounting and machining workpieces. The worktable and the spindle stock are alternatively displaceable relative to each other in a plane parallel to the upper surface from a first position at which a first portion of the upper surface is disposed proximate the spindle stock and serves as a processing area and a second portion of said upper surface is disposed distal to said spindle stock and serves as a mounting area, to a second position at which the upper surface second portion is disposed proximate the spindle stock and serves as a processing area and the upper surface first portion is disposed distal to the spindle stock and serves as a mounting area. A splash guard wall is provided for separating the processing in the mounting areas. The splash guard wall is attached to the table upper surface by means of a hinge defining a first pivot axis. Thus, the splash guard wall may be folded about the first pivot axis relative to the upper surface in order that a first working space above the processing area remains larger than a second working space above the mounting area when either the first or second portions of the upper surface is proximate to the spindle stock.

    • A machine tool comprises a travelling column, a spindle stock to be displaced on the travelling column, and a tool magazine. Toolholders are stored in the tool magazine and may be individually conveyed into a transfer position within the tool magazine. Two gripper arms serve to interchange the toolholders between the transfer position on the tool magazine and a working position in the spindle. The orientation of the toolholders during interchanging is maintained. The gripper arms are separately mounted on the spindle head and can be pivoted simultaneously and in opposite directions along locus curves. The gripper arms have grippers to hold the toolholders during the interchanging between the transfer position and the working position. The transfer position and the working position lie in a common vertical plane. The transfer position is located in the area of the travelling column front side facing toward the spindle stock. The tool magazine extends from a rear side of the travelling column through a tunnel in the travelling column to the transfer position. In the area between the positions the locus curves run at a lateral distance from the vertical plane.

    • A machine tool comprises a spindle stock (11) in which a spindle (13) is seated for rotation about a spindle axis (14). A second and a third annular groove (40, 41) are arranged in the ring bearing (12), on either side of the said first annular groove (31) in the axial direction. An annular seal (42, 43) is accommodated in each of the second and the third annular grooves (40, 41). The annular seals (42, 43) accommodated in the second and third annular grooves (40, 41) can be subjected to the action of compressed air (49) applied in radial direction, from the side opposite the said spindle (13) (FIG. 1).
