    • A control for varying the speed of advancement of film is described for use in a film projector in which the film is advanced by a shuttle tooth which engages perforations in the film and advances the film along a path between a light source and a projector aperture. The control includes a rotary shutter assembly having one or more shutter blades for interrupting the light from the light source. As the shutter assembly rotates, the shuttle tooth is reciprocated in the direction of film feed by a rotary cam having one or more cam lobes mechanically coupled to the shuttle tooth. The rotation of the cam lobes is synchronized to the rotation of the shutter blades such that the shuttle tooth is positioned for engagement with the perforations associated with the next successive film frame to be projected whenever a shutter blade interrupts the light source. To engage the shuttle tooth with the film perforations, means are included for sensing the interruption of the light source by the shutter blades to generate a train of pulses, each equal in separation to 1/Nth number of light interruptions, (where N is selectable) and, in response to each pulse, means for advancing the shuttle tooth into engagement with the film perforations so that the film may be advanced by the next motion of the shuttle tooth in the direction of film feed. Thus, the film is engaged and advanced upon each reciprocation of the shuttle tooth when N equals one, and at a selectably slower rate when N is greater than one.

    • The disclosure relates to a fade circuit for a motion picture camera of the type which includes an automatic exposure control. The fade circuit includes a light emitting diode which illuminates the light sensitive device of the automatic exposure control to augment the ambient light levels normally received by the light sensitive device. The intensity of the light emitted by the light emitting diode is controlled by a variable current source which provides the light emitting diode with continuously increasing or decreasing current for increasing or decreasing the intensity of the light from the light emitting diode. Fade-in is obtained as the light intensity of the light emitting diode is gradually decreased from an initial intensity sufficient to close the diaphragm opening to zero intensity to allow the diaphram to assume an opened condition corresponding to ambient light levels. Fade-out is obtained as the light intensity of the light emitting diode is gradually increased from an initial zero intensity which causes the diaphragm to be in an open condition corresponding to ambient light levels to an intensity sufficient to close the diaphragm opening.

    • The disclosure relates to a moving target assembly for use in a target practice range. The moving target assembly includes a target, a target travel guide for guiding the target movement and including a pair of straight sections which are substantially at right angles to one another, and a chain drive running substantially parallel to the straight sections. The target includes selectively operable chain engaging devices so that the target may be selectively guided along one straight section or the other. The assembly also includes structure for returning the target to a home position. Also disclosed is a control for controlling a plurality of such assemblies, including selection of the targets, the speed of target travel, the raising and lowering of the targets, and the actuation of the chain drive motors.
