    • A vehicular steering mechanism of overly complex construction is known which displaces a left turn control valve or a right turn control valve through separated cams in response to the rotation of a steering wheel. The subject steering mechanism is simpler, more economical and more compact by including an input shaft and a single actuating cam which are conjointly rotatable away from a neutral position in either direction. The actuating cam defines a profiled guide slot of a substantially spiral shape, and a cam follower assembly is cooperatively associated therewith including a cam following roller wheel that is received in the profiled guide slot. The cam follower assembly includes a bellcrank supporting the roller wheel and indirectly connected to a left turn control valve and a right turn control valve. The vehicle is steered by the controlled rotation of the bellcrank and the subsequent displacement of the control valves and. The steering mechanism also includes an effective centering and stop assembly.

    • An undercarriage assembly for a work vehicle includes first and second roller frame assemblies, one on each side of the vehicle, an idler wheel assembly connected to one end of each roller frame assembly, and a drive wheel connected to the opposite end of each roller frame assembly. An endless elastomeric track belt encircles a respective drive wheel, roller frame assembly, and idler wheel assembly on each side of the vehicle. A rigid support beam connects each roller frame assembly to the main frame of the vehicle. Each idler wheel assembly includes first and second self-aligning mechanisms to provide that the track belt runs true and straight. The roller frame assemblies can be spaced laterally from the vehicle, using various size spacers, to provide various gage settings of the endless track belt. During adjustment of the roller frame assemblies, a supporting arrangement supports one track roller assembly by the other track roller assembly.

    • A vehicle transmission particularly suitable for an agricultural tractor provides a large number of drive ranges by combining manual selection of any of several speed ranges while the vehicle is stopped with power shifting being available while the vehicle is in motion. The arrangement of the transmission allows the input shaft to be located at the top of the housing, with a plurality of shafts carrying the shift assemblies located immediately below the input shaft. The output shaft is positioned in the lower portion of the housing providing output torque at both ends of the housing, thereby eliminating the need for a transfer case normally required in interconnecting a transmission to both the front and rear wheels of the vehicle.

    • A vehicle service and parking brake of the multiple oil disc configuration is included in the transmission housing of the vehicle. A plurality of interleaved braking discs arranged circumferentially about the output shaft of the transmission with one disc associated with the output shaft while the next adjacent disc is associated with the transmission housing forms the braking element. Brake applicator, movable in a first direction to cause the interleaved braking discs to come together in braking relation one with another and movable in a second direction to allow the braking discs to separate, is urged in the first direction by resilient means. The brakes are released by pneumatic means urging the brake applicator in the second opposite direction. Pneumatic service brake actuator is provided and is selectively operable to act in cooperation with the resilient means to urge the brake applicator in the first direction to apply the vehicle service brakes. Mechanical means are also provided to disengage the braking discs while no air pressure is available in the vehicle.
